Tropical grand vacations called me in the UK this morning. I asked the girl who they were and how they got the number as mine is ex-directory and registered with the UK telephone preference scheme to prevent unsolicited call. Within a few moments of asking questions a very obnoxious and obviously immature man came on the line. He said the number would have been as a result of stay in one of their hotels, this was a complete lie as I never provide this number. He then spent the next few minutes shouting and making childish, rood comments on the phone instead of answering any of my questions. It resulted in him having to ask if I was going to cry and changing my name to the feminine Pauline to try to aggravate me, asking me if I was going to hang up.I said the good part of this call was I was wasting his time and had all day as he was paying for the call. I calmly sat back in my chair a left the phone off the hook listening to the quiet sound of him rant on until he decided to hang up.It’s a shame the Americans don’t have the same control over communications and these sort of scams as we have in the UK. They wouldn’t get away with it here.
I am an American who has been living in Australia for many years. Unfortunately, I agree with you about TGV telemarketers. But canrudeness, aggression, being puerile, discourteous and outright obnoxious only be attributed to Americans? I think not. You think yourself so "clever" because you did not get scammed by this mob. A lot of people from the UK were ripped off, so obviously UK "control over communications" is not as effective as you wish to believe.
