Got a call from unknown number. An indian guy claimed he was calling from Microsoft and that I had a virus on my computer. He was very insistent that I get on my computer immediately to work with him in removing the virus. He identified himself as Martin and provided this number 212-796-4064 as his call back number.
Hada call saying it was windows service centre, at the time was not on computer, so asked them to ring back, they kept asking me to turn on computer, just found this site, so am now prepared, as I have anti-virus ect. on computer and have no real problems, I asked where they had my number from and they said if you have windows your details are registered with them?
Just like "carfeul person" I too received teh same exact call from and indian guy and gave the 212-796-4064 number to me too, he said his name was Mr. Johnson though and wouldn't give me his first name but gave me an employee number. As he told me that I had a trojan virus - he proceeded to tell me I had an xp OS, and that I used a verizon internet connection and that my computer was at least a year old, I told him that was all correct even though none of it is accurate. he wanted me to go wo www.supportonclick.com - I said I did but I didn't. While I truthfully have no proof, I have to believe this is some sort of scam to get personal information off of my computer - or to somehow infect my computer so I would need to "buy" his service or something to remove it. I don't see how this guy and his call can be legit.
Just got a call from this same number. Said I had error messages from Microsoft and he needed to fix. I asked for his number which he gave as 212-796-4064.I asked him why he was calling from NY not calling from Washington State--since that is where Microsoft is located. He got flustered and then hung up.Same Indian accented guy called my neighbor on Tuesday.
A guy called Andrew Hudson rang my mother-in-law today and said that a hacker had got into her laptop and he wanted to show her how to stop it. She contacted me and I went and checked out the number and found it to be a scam. DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH ANYONE ringing from 02033186362 its a bloody scam. It fightened the life out of my 80+ mother-in-law and the bloke should be castrated.
July 11th 08.Got a call from same Indian man who stated that he was calling from an affiliation of microsoft and that i had a trojan virus on my computer, he was extremely persistent that I followed his instructions as the virus would crash my computer. He asked me to go to "run" and type in supportonclick.com , then to sign up, the page was asking for my personal info.(name, address, tel.# ect). i told him I was concerned as I did not contact microsoft regarding any problems and I would call him back. He gave me 2 callback #s 212-796-4064 and 212-796-0581 , and his name is GARY, but stated that he would callback in 15 minutes. I called both #s and none worked. 15 minutes later "GARY the scammer" called back and I cursed him out. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS INDIAN GUY.I pro
The Indian guy called me, claiming to be from Microsoft. He said I had spy-ware embedded in cookies and Micosoft technician would help me if I logged on to spotonclick. He was persistent and insistent that I should follow his instructions and being a computer novice I was taken in ,at first by the Microsoft name. However I was suspicious that he didn't want me to log on to Microsoft. When he asked me for £45 I went balistic. He didn't get any details or the money but I feel an idiot for not recognising the phone call for what it was
I got a call from an inidan lady saying she was windows service centre. Like those above, she asked me to search the computer with Windows + R , and look for errors and duplicate files which are malicious spyware/malware. They then told me i needed to update my software warranty, and then referred me to another company DRI 24 x7 PC help using the website www.logmein123.com . I fooloishly purchased their "technical support " and allowed them access to my computer . I have since changed all my passwords and called my credit card compnay ( which i used to make the $101 ) purchase to cancel that authorisation/ + card . Any other advice?
Just got a call from and Indian man - same as all the above - very insistent that I had a Trojan virus on my computer, that he was with Microsoft, that it was infecting my files. Gave me incorrect info about my computer which I didn't correct. Told him that was rubbish - no problems on my computer, but I called the 212 number to check up. Another Indian who admitted they weren't actually Microsoft but were supportonclick, and get information on customers from dealers. He tried to put me through to the Sales Dept. Told him never to call me again. Has anyone notified Microsoft?
Just had a similar experience - caller ID blocked - claimed to be from Microsoft saying that I had a Trojan virus on an XP computer with a Verizon internet account. Extremely persistent - even called back. Also offered a second number to call - 212-796-0581 in addition to 212-796-4064. Name given was Keith Watson. -- Where are they getting their list of people to call. It seems like the people most likely to know both your Internet provider and your operating system would likely be your Internet service provider. Hmmm... Has somebody gotten illegal access to a Verizon customer list?
