I had a call from an Indian sounding man, trying to tell me that he was from the windows service center and that I had a problem with my computer. He asked me to switch the computer on to do a few checks, I told him that I did not have a problem but if left to him I would shortly have one, I gave him a few minutes more then I told him that was 17:23 and this conversation is finished.
same as above. live in NJ. Received a call from Bryan with an accent. He was desperate to send me to supportonclick.com. He asked for my wife, different last name. She is not registered anywhere with the computer. He claimed he was affiliated with Microsoft, and that they had gathered information that indicated a virus. He could even name it "trojan horse virus." I laughed at him and said that was a category, not an actual virus. A few weeks ago, my wife gave out her yahoo id and password along with her name and phone number to a scam email supposedly from Yahoo Mail support. I have reported the whole thing to Yahoo.
I also received a call from this guy. He said that I could sign up for help at $80 a month. I think that he works with other people who work customer service at banks accross the country. How unfair is this! They want your ss#'s. God only knows what their plans are for your financial situation.
Two calls from an indian/pakistani bloke who said he was from Windows Support. When I asked him how he obtained my phone number he said it was off the internet. I told him that I wasn,t interested and hung up. Also his English was very bad and I had to ask him to repeat himself I then tried ring back and found they had withheld their number. This is a scam I presume!!!!!
Call from Indian who assured me I'd been infected with a virus and I should log onto www.supportonclick.co.uk. Gave me his UK number as 01274900834. When I told him I was registered with Telephone Preference Service and he shouldn't be calling me he was completely unaware of their existence. I strung him along for 15 minutes then got bored. There should be some way of shutting down parasites like this.
Just had a call from this guy! What a giggle!Told me he'd been asked to call from my ISP's support dept because I had problems on my PC. Suspecting something fishy:Me: Who's my ISP then?Guy: Either Virgin, Sky or BTMe: Well, which is it?He couldn't tell me, so I got into a discussion about how I was software developer and if I had a problem with my PC I think I'd know about it.Whenever I asked him a question he couldn't answer he just went back to the original statement that he was calling from the ISP's support dept. The thing to do with any of these things is just to keep asking them questions - "What do you mean?" is a great one to ask about five times if you've got the time!
I had a call also from this indain sounding man put me through several things with my computer after telling me he was from windows and I had a bug that was infecting all my frinds when I E-mailed them.He then asked me to open the web site www.24.x7pchelp.com.and insistered that i purchase a protection for over $200.00 I told him I would't have that amount of money untill a weeks time .He then told me to just put it on my credit card as my computer would crash any moment if I didn't.I didn't like how pushy and cross he was becomming so I told him I didnt have a credit card.He then sugested that I ask my husband for his.!!The scary thing was he knew My name.He rung back two hours later and I told him not to ring again as I knew it was a scam.Hopefully this will be the end of this
Received call from indian sounding guy.Something wrong with my computer, slow to start up.As it was thought he knew what he was doing,so paid a quarterly payment.Had call today 21 08 2008 again same thing ,slow running so log on to www.supportonclick.co.uk,eventually going to subscription page and then to pay an annual payment of £43-00p.Told him i paid payment in June he said now annaul payment due.didnt feel safe so told him i would contact them later.Had about 4 calls after that from different guys one after the other.Iasked for phone number.A bit hesitant but gave me this number 1274900834.I wont phone it.I think ive been had.
FYI - Received a call today on my home phone (landline) at 7:20pm local time here in Adelaide South Australia. Caller (Indian accent, no name) and script sounding much the same as those desribed previously - he said he was ringing from "Support On Click" and claiming my "local ISP" had provided them with a report that my PC was "running slowly" and that it was a "computer technical issue". I asked where he had got my phone number and details from - he repeatedly said my number (and the report about my PC running slow) was from "my local ISP" though he never named that ISP. I think this is very improbable as my ISP has a very good name and their website says nothing about this purported service provider. The caller kept returning to the same "scripted" phrases during the call but also became rather garbled as he went on to say that the problems they could help me with "might nver happen"! A Google search indicates a website exists for this company (along with other search results from rather improbably looking "news sites") but I would be very cautious.
G'Day all!!! I am getting regular phone calls again for remote services on the computer for various problems.I worked out ages ago that these are scammers/BLOODY NEW AGE WANNA BE BUSHRANGERS...So people do the BEST & SAFEST THING. TURN OFF THE THIRD PARTY ACCESS FEATURE that comes (ridiculously) "TURNED ON WITH ALL NEW COMPUTERS"...I am sorry to all legitimate providers of this kind of service(especialy when its a handy & needed one)But my computer problems & issues can be fixed by the techspert I give it to or I will JUST BUY A NEW ONE off him.
