Well, it appears that this is not just a Canadian problem. I'm located in the Southeast US and received a similar call, from the same number. When checked later, this number comes back as a "non-working number. I had a hard time understanding the first dude on the phone, and I really wasn't confident in his being a Micro Soft Operating System technician. He finally handed me over to his "Supervisor", and the noise on the phone clearly indicated he simply handed the phone or, more than likely, a headset, to another person. This clown's Indian accent was worst than the first jerk. The usual routine, they wanted me to go up on www.ammyy.com so as to get instructions on how to clear the virus "infection" I supposedly had on my computer system. While he was "guiding" me through on how to do this, and I delibertly delayed him with small talk, I goggled this website. The data cleared indicated the site was a scamming group, and possible Trojan Horse source. When I mentioned I had googled the site, and then started reading back what I had learned, the jerk hung up. Return calling the number 253-820-3089 resulted in the "non-working number" response. EF

They have called a couple of times. I didn't pickup, we had a lot of people trying to scam people in this area. Plus, I don't pick up if I don't know the number. If it is friends or family they know not to call me on the house phone.

WELL I JUST GOT A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER, SAME THING CLAIMS HE IS FROM MICROSOFT. THE IDIOT COULDNT EVEN TELL ME WHAT WINDOWS I HAD LOL HE JUST KEPT SAYING MICROSOFT WINDOWS! I SAID OKAY SMART GUY WHICH ONE? THEN HE GOT MAD AND STARTING YELLING LMAO I SAID YOU ARE A BAD SCAM ARTIST, YOU SHOULD LEARN MORE ABOUT THE PRODUCT YOUR TRYING TO SCAM BEFORE YOU CALL SOMEONE LOL I WORK ON COMPUTERS SO I ASKED HIM WHAT WAS MY IP ADDRESS AND EVERYTHING LOL FUNNY TO ME, BUT UNFORTUNATELY HE WAS CALLING MY GRANDFTHER PHONE. I NOTICED I RECEIVED CALLS AFTER I HAD TO SEND MY EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE TO WESTERN DIGITAL. I WONDER IF THESE FOREIGN PLACES ARE SELLING OUR NUMBERS?????

Well i guess we have heard the same garbage. I asked him wich of my computer (i got 4) and he couldn't tell. To start with, a Microsoft employee will not ask you to open stuff to take control of your computer. So i told him that if he could figure out my number I guess he can find my e-mail adress. Wich from there is easy to confirm a real MS employee.

Getting a call from this number but they never say anything.

been getting calls from these POS ,so started answering the phone with the creepy sounds form "THE GRUDGE" !!!!!! they stopped--dumb ases!!!!!!!

I just got a call from these people and I told him I dont have a computer and he said ok and hung up. What a dummy

They Just called me and had me run my event veiwer, and pull up my applications list, then asked me how many red flags in the list..i had about 20 ....i played along for a minute, then he had me press the window flag key and r at the same time.....this pulls up a run box....in that box he told me to type the following :www.ammyy.com.....instead of putting it in the run box, i told him my pc froze up, meanwhile i googled this site...its a free remote desktop utility....i was about to let them take over my pc...using shareware....I told him OMG my appendix just burst....and hung up....they called back 3x then gave up

I got the same call claiming that my windows operating computer was infected so he needed access to my computer. But then I told him that my computer was not running on windows and he seemed to be confused and he didn't know what to say, then I asked to speak to me in french because I was not good in English (not true), he hang up on me! I had a good laugh because is not the first time that they called!

Got a call from 12 253 820 3099 today 07/06/12 @ 6:15 ish. Asian sounding guy, said he's with microsoft, do I have windows. Yes. he wanted to check how much my comp. is infected. Hit the windows key & R.simultaneously. Enter vt,something and window came up to show how much infection my comp. had. He yells wow! that's bad, then for me to open another window with higher nunber's. He ranted again how bad my computer was infected. Then he wanted me to go further and I asked again who he was, because I could hardly understand a word he was saying all this time! I told him if he doesn't identify himself II'm hanging up on him!! After he let out a lot of swear's, calling me a stupid A_ _ hole, dumb mother effer, and more, he hung up on me. I had told him a few times I wanted to talk to an American, but it didn't happen.
