Man asked for "Mrs X" I said 'wrong number' he said, "Doesn't matter anyway, we are calling everyone in Maryland to help the poor widows and children of police officers who died". I told him my sister-in-law is a widow of P.O. and how can she sign up for benefits? He said "the officer must sign up before death". I asked percentage of collected monies that goes to benefits, he had no answer except 'a lot of benefit money is paid out'. He told me "I just work the phones here". I asked for call back number and tax ID number, and told him being a lawyer, I am careful who I give money to. He immediately hung up. I called the number on my caller ID and the answer message was the same voice as the man I spoke to. As far as I am concerned, this is a SCAM until proven otherwise!! BEWARE!

This number repeatedly calls my house. My policy is to never make any donation over the telephone to any organization which cannot demonstrate through public, audited records that at least 70% to 80% of its receipts go to registered and valid charities and causes. I suspect this guy is smart enough to maintain the lifestyle to which he has become accustomed on your nickel.

I've been asking to be put on their do not call list for 7 years and it hasn't happened yet! Not so simple.

I got the same call from John Farrell.Just ask for badge number, full name, superior name and organization.Verify with organization.Probably he'll just hang up and take you off the call list right away before you can finish ask for the info.

at 6:08 pm January 13 received a call from "Farrell John". Call disconected when I picked up.

Called received from this particular number. ID shows on caller-id, but they only ask for one specific person.

Someone who refused to identify himself called us today from 301-762-6650. He wanted to talk to me and refused to talk to my wife. The caller was rude.

So called charity or not, If you ask them to take your number off of their list they are obligated to do so. If they refuse or call again you have a right to sue them in small claims court. Ask them to send you a copy of their do not call list, and they must under federal guide lines.
