Received call on my private cell phone on Monday morning from this number, caller ID shows "Unknown" Number is definately a switch/spoofed number (allows them to cover the real number they are calling from and show you this fake number so when you call it back you get nothing and you can't really report these crooks...) if this number shows on your caller ID, don't answer it and BLOCK IT!
Received 2 calls from this phone, i did not answer, I was busy , but it was stating that my credit card was used from somebody out of state, and it was charged. Totally a scam. I checked my cards, and at this time, it has not been charged.
I received a call from a man with a thick accent who said he was calling from the US Government Treasury Division. He had my name and address which he said he got from their Treasury records. Actually our County records also have my name and address which anyone can get. He said my bank was charging me huge fees and he could get them back for me under a special government program. I'm a retired banker and know I'm not paying any fees. I went along with him to see what he was up to. He told me that he would send me paper work to fill out and return so he could get my mney for me. He said their records showed that my bank was either Bank of America or Chase Bank (nice guess). I confirmed that it was B of A. He told me he could get my money and that they would hire attorneys and do everything as long as I paid $90.99 which would be refunded in the money they get for me. He then told me that they showed that I was overcharged about $4,000 and wanted to know if I wanted it into my checking or credit card. I said credit card and he wanted my card number. I told him I didnt want to give out my number. He then said thet he was not just some business, but he was the government so it would be OK. I told him I was just not comfortable giving it out. Then I told him that I new that the government did not have a program like this and that I was going to report this to the authorities...click.
Received call from this number today and since I've been receiving scam calls for past few days, I didn't answer it. I strongly suspect that it is a scam caller, and since I can't really catch them, I'm done with this. For the record, I'm in the Ocean Shores, Washington area, and my phone is via my internet service provider. I strongly suspect that the service provider is how my phone number is getting out, via insecure servers.
THEY CALL ME LEAVE NO MESSAGE AND THEN HANG UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES PLEASE STOP CALLING ME
303-330-0995 just called your number. I did not answer, did not hear the phone, tried to call back, never got even a ring...
Second call I received from 303-330-0995. The woman with probably an Indian accent claimed to be a representative from Microsoft Technical Support and that my computer was downloading malicious software whenever I was sending and receiving emails or surfing the web.Knowing Microsoft would not call me to tell me this (that is what security updates are for) I told her that I did not believe that she was from Microsoft and asked how I could verify she was. She told me that if I didn't believe her that my computer would continue to be infected and she referenced the recent DNS changer virus and told me that was my infection. Now I am pretty good with computers and know that I am not infected with the DNS changer virus and only about 60,000 computers in the US were still estimated to be after efforts by various federal and private entities to correct the problem. I also am a retired police officer and have investigated many such scams as a financial crimes detective and this call set off every alarm.Obviously, if you are here then you are practical enough to not believe what these callers and emailers are saying and I commend you for that. Please educate your friends and family that they should never take these callers at face value and teach them how to investigate further.BlueKnight
