My Caller-ID displayed "Wilber & Ast-". This could actually be Wilber & Associates, but it could also be someone spoofing their caller-ID and phone number. The bottom line, is that it doesn't matter who they are--if they're calling to tell me I have a debt, then apparently they know who I am, and they can send me a certified bill in the mail through the U.S. Post Office. If they don't know who I am (and they didn't when they called), then they're on a fishing expedition to exploit me. The asked me if "x" lived at my home, I hung up and laughed. They would have liked it if I told them no, and gave them my name and information, so they could use that information to con me into believing I owe some "unknown" debt, that I must have forgotten. LOLOLOLA word to the wise, if you actually fall for this fishing expedition scam, and are tricked into believing you owe a debt without a legitimate bill and way to prove the authenticity of the bill, then know this, if you make a payment, you are "declaring" that you "own" that debt. Never get tricked into "owning" someone else's debts, whether those debts are completely fictitious or real, because once you make that payment you are making a "legal claim" to the debt under "your" name.I'll never pay a bill I don't own, heck, I'll never pay a bill for someone in my family either, because that makes me the owner of the debt. All debts are "civil matters", and "never" criminal matters, so the worst that can "ever" happen, is being sued and taken to court. These clowns don't know who I am, now how are they going to file a legal suit against me? LOLOLAnother thing, going to court is scary for many people...but, it shouldn't be, the judge is there to seek justice...these clowns are using fraudulent practices to induce debt on unwitting citizens, a judge would dismiss their claim with extreme prejudice.
they wanted my wife to cooperate on helping them surrogate and old insurance claim (3 years ago) that was paid to us by our cable provider (cable guys Screwed up and sent 110volts through our cable line burning out all our tvs and DVDs). After two months they called us and said that the cable company should have never paid us so they are subrogating against us!!!!I talked to our attorney and found out that no matter what never ever talk to them. They will lie and twist what you say. They asked my wife if the tv's had surge protectors on them, my wife said "no the 110v came in to the tvs from the RF coaxial connections and not the two prong power cord on the TVs. The are now suing us saying it was negligence on our part for not have surge protectors on all inputs to each tv!!!
Called me twice threatening to suspend my license, because of an accident that was not my fault. The girl hit me from behind, she got the ticket. Her insurance company paid me to fix my car. Now this Wilber and Associates is calling me to collect the damages on the girls car. WHAT!!!!!! Not my fault I am not paying for it. They are saying because I did not have insurance(which I did). I have insurance always have always will. I filed a complaint with the Supreme Court of Illinois. They are NOT ACCREDITED with the BBB either.
They have been calling me since may. I sold a vehicle and didnt take the release of liability in on time. Technically i was never the registered owner. I had the car for a month then sold it. I asked them if they would accept a payment of 100 a month. They told me no. 450 is what they wanted a month. Now theyve threatened to suspend my license. I had the bill of sale which i told them that. They told me i needed the release of liability so i took the bill to the dmv. Called them said i had it. Only for them to tell me it doesn't count because its not stamped at the date before the accident and that now i needed the bill of sale. They also told me I couldnt sue them When i asked it if i could fight it.
I recieved a letter stating that i owe money for a car accident. They have provided a state farm insurance claim number. But i have no accidents for the past four years. They haven't provided me with any information that i can get real details from a trusted source. When i google their name i do see lots of scam posts. But this kind of stuff makes me waste my time and makes me worries because i do care about my driving record and i would like to make sure that im in good standing. I wish there was a way to get these people jailed if they are scamming people. The police told me that they have so much of this going on that they cant go after every single case. At this point i will be waiting it out, until i get something else from a trusted place. But i dont know what to do if they do anything to my credit or my license because clearly they have no right. Hey guys!I was in an auto accident in 2012 I was 19 at the time. I get a phone call about a year lady from a woman name Shannon (who is very rude) she is very unprofessional which is probably why she doesn't work there anymore. Anyway, I was researching back then and too thought they were scamming me although I was in an accident. I just wasn't sure if I should pay them or not. Well Shannon and I came to an agreement because she was threatening me with suspending my license to pay 200$ every month. Well, a few days later I send $200 and later that evening she called demanding note or she was going to suspend my license. I blocked the number thinking I was being scammed for sure because what she did was not right. Three years later I get pulled over and was told mg license has been revoked.. So here I am currently back in touch with Wilbur and assc we have worked out a payment plan and down payment to receive my license again. I'm almost positive they are legit and the woman I'm working with at wilbur and assc is awesome! She's not rude and very professional. So I'm hoping what happened last time doesn't again! And I get my license back!! ☺
Too many holes in your story. First, who pulled over your car and who told you that your license has been revoked, and by what reason can they revoke your license? Are you licensed? Are you insured? No one can revoke/impound your DL, even the law enforcement officer needs a legit reason to do that. And on the other hand, if you are insured, why do you care? Everything should be taken care by the insurance company, not those third part crooks.
ignored the letter they were required to send you, didn't dispute the debt, and then ignored the letter DMV sent you telling you that your license was suspended?
You say they 'called from this number' yet say the number is '809' under the list of 'caller'. So was it 309-663-6700 or 809-663-6700. Also, calling to tell you of a lawsuit is crap-that's not how it's done. You would have had something delivered that you would have had to SIGN for-it would NOT have been over the phone.
