I got a letter recently on this issue and I don't own a car or never drove one...

Subrogation happens whenever an insurance company pays for damage to their insured's property. The right to collect damages simply transfers to the insurance company, and they seek to recover it instead of the insured. Typically, subrogation demands go to a person's insurance company and it is never seen. However, if a person is uninsured, they are personally liable.

Got a call from them using my maiden name and claiming I was in a car wreck a few months ago. I haven't drove in over a year, so I know this is a scam. I don't even live anywhere near Illinois either nor have I been out of state in over 10 years. The phone they are calling me on is registered to my SO, so I don't even know how they got my info to begin with. I'm not worried about them, but more worried someone may have stolen my info.

Collection agency who identified themselves as Wilbur and associates. Did not follow any of the FDCPA regulations and utilized every threat and intimidation tactic available. If you take a call please record the call as eventually they will be sued for not adhering to the FDCPA laws.

Says I was in an accidentand their client "SafeCo Insurance" has forwarded them the claim. 1) I was NOT in an accident, and have not been in one in over 22 years. 2) I do not live any place near this company. 3) No documentation or information has been provided to me, not even a police report. 4) I contacted my insurance company and advised them of the scam. Shady company making false claims.

This caller has been calling constantly. We do not know who and what they want?!!! They call and hang up I want this to stop and I will file charges against them!

Law firm called claiming I was negligent. Could not produce any judgment stating I am negligent. I asked for a breakdown of all bills and they refused to comply. Just kept saying I owe X amount of dollars with zero back-up to their claims. Why do they call saying you owe money without any court judgment stating you owe and refuse to explain the amount they are stating you owe? Is this even legal? Notifying my state bar to see if this is fraudulent law practice and practicing in a state they have no license in.

Got a call, when I questioned what it was for Laura said she could not say until she confirmed I was Carol. She said the Hipa laws forbade it... she called Me today again from this number saying I owe money for an accident I was not at Fault when I told her my insurance would contact them she hung up.

They've called almost every other day but I haven't answered since it's an Illinois number which I have no connections with.
