For the last week or two, I have received multiple calls daily from phone number 312-775-1287 listed as IPSOS. I normally don't answer numbers I don't recognize but wanted to find out what was so important that this number was constantly calling me. It was NOT an automated voice -- it was a young lady advising that she was calling to get my opinions on a survey and that we would be recorded. I asked her what the survey was for and she wouldn't tell me -- just said it would be evident once we got to the survey questions. Her first question was whether I was over 18 and older and I told her yes. Then she wanted to know if I had attended any type of town house meetings or pursued any of the political issues of the day ....I told her yes, that I was emailing my Congressmen and sending out editorials via LinkedIn where I have over 7,300 1st line members in network, that I was 65 years old and fed up with how Washington was treating the elderly. She cut me off and then asked if I had ever attended College and I told her yes, that I had a degree. She then began to thank me my time stating that she appreciated my comments -- and I stopped her and said, "So we're not getting into the survey now because I didn't say what you wanted to hear?" She told me no, that we would not be doing the survey -- so I hung up!!
This is NOT a scam, it is a legitimate SURVEY company. Survey calls which do not attempt to sell you anything are EXEMPT from the FTC regulations regarding the Do Not Call list. Again-- these are NOT scammers, they are just annoying survey-takers, who get paid to take public opinion/attitude polls. If the calls annoy you, you can ask them to be placed on their "internal" Do Not Call list, and/or block the phone number yourself, if you have that capability. The first option may not be viable, as IPSOS is a global company, with branch offices in many countries. Since they are not subject to the US FTC's DNC list rules, they have no real incentive to maintain their own Do Not Call list. Sorry.
For nearly a week now this company has called our home daily. They NEVER leave a message. Plus, the number they are calling is unlisted. When one considers how many people in the U.S. have telephones, why a company would continue to call the same number over and over again makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. At the same time when I complained to the local phone company about these calls (and others just like them) the phone company claims that it cannot block specific numbers NOR can they block out entire area codes. How can that be?
By the way, this could also be one of those scams that record you answering questions to get you to say "yes" and then use it later to buy things under your name stating that they have proof you agreed to the purchase and play your voice back saying yes!!! If that's the case, ipsos would be wise not to try doing that on me. They will find out the hard way i don't put up with someone stealing from me and won't quit until i prove what they did if it takes forever !!!
I have no idea who/what the caller is. I know no one in Chicago area. Whoever/whatever it is lets the phone ring twice, hangs up, leaves no message. When I recall the number I only get the message "Beep. Beeep. Beeeep. We're sorry, all circuits busy now. Will you please try your call again later. PUACH21."
Just got a call from this number as well - didn't answer and of course they didn't leave a message - wish these idiots would get real jobs and leave us all the hell alone. Getting calls everyday. Very aggravating to say the least!!!
wont stop caling, told them on a no call list and please remove my numberwhat a bother they are
some kind of phishing scam? Caller ID came up IPSOS. Guy said he was from Harris Bank, but didn't know who to ask for, and wouldn't state his business.
