This is actually one of the best conveniences I have run into anywhere. I think I had to actually click somewhere on some site to initiate it, but maybe not. Anyway, YES, theWalgreens their computer system (with an Omaha phone #) calls you when your prescriptions are scheduled for refill, and you select which ones you want refilled, and then they magically appear at your local Walgreens pharmacy for you to pick up.
The system provides your first and last name for you to respond that you are the person for whom the call is intended. Only then does it ask for you to enter your date of birth as another verification step. Then it lists the prescriptions you have on file with Walgreens that are scheduled for refill at this time. You indicate which you want to have refilled. It then tells you what time you refills will be available at your local store, with them providing the address of the store. So it isn't asking you to provide a whole lot of personal info that they don't have.
It works awfully well for me to get my prescriptions refilled efficiently without having to do anything more than respond to a few prompts. And somehow my pharmacist knows what I want refilled and when to have them ready for me. Try it. You may like it.
This was the 2nd or 3rd month I have received this call (which is why I didn't recognize the number and am on this site), so either it is a new service or I selected it recently somewhere along the line. Either way, it is really slick. If you don't catch the incoming call, you can return the call from the phone number they called, and the system looks up your record based on your phone number, and you are right back in the system where it starts by verifying your name, etc. Its really fool-proof and convenient.
