I got 2 of these calls as well with garbled unauditable. Then next day a call with a robot message saying from my bank with reference to a transaction on my credit card. I do not believe it to be legit. The bank said they saw that the fraud department tried to call but I still do not trust this number. Will never call the 800 number they left either.
They called. They had my name and bank, but it was a robot, which was strange. They claimed it was about verifying activity. I ignored the call and called my bank directly who said that wasn't their number and I had no record of a problem to be called about. So from my experience, this is a scam.
402-609-5706 just called to verify a transaction that I had made over the phone not 10 minutes before the call. I asked for information to verify who the man (non-robot call) was before I verified it was a legitimate transaction. His information is "Joseph" and he also had a verification code I can give to my bank that consisted of 4 letters. He then proceeded to give me every detail of the transaction, and I verified it with him.My bank was closed and whenever I called Visa they could not give me any information because my bank handles the fraudulent card activity, nor could they verify the number as a legitimate number. Going to put my card on hold, change my online banking password, and call my bank tomorrow to verify. If it is legit, that puts me at ease obviously, but if not, its very unnerving that someone would have access to as much of my information that Joseph had.. I know people are saying that those who verify this number are shill posting - I haven't verified this number yet, but I do not necessarily think it is a scam. All I can tell you is that I'm not shill posting, take it or leave it. I will make another report tomorrow whenever I am able to get in contact with my bank.
I just moved to Nashville too and that's when I got this call.... What gas station did you use? Do you remember?
I called the # back and it said that the Verizon wireless customer couldn't be reached. I blocked that #.
I called my bank back with the man's information and they told me it was legitimate phone call. I will probably not be confirming anything else again though because this is a strange situation as others have noticed.
Wasnt sure of phone number after seeing other posts here, contacted my credit union immediately after letting the call go to voicemail to verify and they recited the phone number to me without me providing it and confirmed it was legitimate. They then provided me a 800 number (18003278622) to call to verify a set of recent transactions showing on my Visa debit card. Called the 800 number, they ran me through a set of transactions over the last two days that had occurred, all were legitimate, and that was that.
I made a large purchase through Walmart last night around 7pm EST to my cell number. It claims it was trying to verify a purchase on my account. I received the phone call again this morning at 9:15 am. I compared the customer service line with the customer service line on my actual bank's website. It does not match. Attempted to call my bank and it is closed today for Veteran's Day. The phone call came through on my cell phone which actually isn't the phone number attached to my bank account. Most likely a scam.
