I live in Burnaby and just recieved a call. I pressed 1 so I could tell a live person to take my number off the call list. As soon as I said this I was hungup on. I tried to call the number back and it is not in service. The call was supposedly about Air Miles, not Bell. I do not collect them and just got this landline a week ago as a Telus customer. Total scam. MK you suck.
Got a call from this number about a month ago. Didn't answer and no message was left. I live in BC.
To Bruce Allen:The national Do Not Call list is as flimsy as the national Long-gun Registry. Criminals can get a phone number, hook up an auto-dialer, and go trolling for suckers. Sure as shootin' (pardon the pun), criminals are not going to register ANY gun, let alone a long one. There's no one here who can stop these sort of things. One must learn to grin & bear it. And not answer an unknown number...btw, I got a call fm this # on Aug. 3 on my cell. I'm in Ottawa. I recognized the AB area code and since my dealings with the Wild Rose province ended 20-odd yrs ago, did not answer. Glad I didn't, but since it rang on their end, my number is locked in for the next round. oh well...
FYI, y'all. Taken fm the national Do Not Call website for Canada:"If you think the call may be part of a fraud scheme, contact law enforcement authorities or PhoneBusters (1-888-495-8501)."And this from their rules & regulations page:" Automatic Dialing-Announcing Device (ADAD) Rules Automatic Dialing-Announcing Devices (ADADs) are equipment that store and dial telephone numbers automatically. They may be used alone or with other devices to deliver a pre-recorded or synthesized voice message to the telephone number called. ADADs may not be used for telemarketing unless the consumer has given express consent to accept an ADAD telemarketing call. This includes telemarketing via an ADAD that is initiated by or on behalf of a Canadian registered charity, for the purpose of requesting a consumer to hold until a telemarketer is available, for activities such as radio station promotions, or for referring consumers to 900 or 976 service numbers. ADADs are permitted for calls when there is no attempt to sell, such as calls made for public service reasons, including calls made for emergency and administration purposes by police and fire departments, schools, hospitals, or for calls to schedule appointments. A person using an ADAD to make permitted calls shall comply with the following conditions: * Calling hours are restricted to weekdays (Monday to Friday) from 9:00 am to 9:30 pm and 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) except where provincial laws apply to the specific type of call. The hours refer to those of the person receiving the call. These hours do not apply to emergency situation announcements. * The ADAD call shall begin with a clear message identifying the person on whose behalf the call is made. This identification message shall include a mailing address and a local or toll-free telecommunications number at which a representative of the originator of the message can be reached. In the event that the actual message relayed exceeds sixty (60) seconds, the identification message shall be repeated at the end of the telecommunication. * ADAD calls shall display the originating telecommunications number or an alternate telecommunications number where the call originator can be reached (except where the number display is unavailable for technical reasons). * Sequential dialing is prohibited. * Random dialing can be used to non-published telecommunications numbers, except to emergency lines and healthcare facilities. * Persons initiating ADAD calls shall make all reasonable efforts to ensure that their equipment disconnects within ten (10) seconds of the person receiving the call hanging up."Sorry for the length of this post, but, we need to know the rules. Call the number above or your local cop shop. YOU can help shut the buggers down!!
Just got a call from that number, automated voice said that I since I was a preferred Bell Canada customer (no I am not) I was to dial a number to collect..... At that point I hung up.
When I got a call from this number, at first it was a message saying I had won 100,000 air miles, press 1 to accept. When I pressed 1 the person who answered began to ask questions. When I asked him to identify what company he worked for, he hung up.
