I just received the same call, but my caller was Mr. Martin. "... An important matter in our office"... 888 number as the number to return their call. I also never answer calls from numbers I don't know.
Just received a call from this #. My CallerID listed "Oklahoma". Since I don't know anyone in that state I let the call go to my voicemail. A "gentleman" said my # was on file in their office as a contact # and it was extremely urgent I call them back at an 800 #. He did not identify himself or his company and did not refer to anyone in my family by name. I pity the poor souls who fall for this kind of crud - a total scam and not worth my time to investigate, other than to look up the # at this site. Just confirms my initial impression.
Based on what I have read here, this number is being displayed by a disreputable debt collection agency.Never give any information to a company that has a bogus number displayed on your call ID. All numbers with the 555 prefix will connect you to directory assistance and calls are not made from those numbers. They are cloaking their number to fool people. This company most likely purchases bad debt, very old bad debt, and will do anything to collect. The probably buy the old accounts for pennies on the dollar so it is to their advantage to try and trick people to engage them. The majority of people getting calls showing this number have nothing to do with the old debt since they are using a telephone number that someone else could have had years ago.If they are calling someone that does have an old debt, if it has been over 7 years the debt will not be on their credit report. If they talked to someone about the debt, it could cause it to be reactivated.Bottom line. Do not answer calls from this number. Cell phone providers really need to give us a way to block certain numbers from even reaching our phones.
Same bogus message. Male voice left message saying something was urgent that came through his desk and to give a call back at some 888 # although the call came from 405-555-0199.
they just called and said I am a collection for an old bill and if I give them my credit card or bank account to pay it wo'nt go to the irs its a scam I offered to pay by a money order at the end of the month they said we cannot take money orders or personal checks which or tracable
I just got a phone call my # is a week young I missed the call nobody has my # but 2 people and they can call my house ....I don't answer calls anyway report the number to the police if it continues
I don't remember if she said her name was "Ms. Price," but she did have a British accent.
I recieve a call from this number. It was a recording and ask me to call a 888 number please remove me from this call list
This is a debt collector. I got the call today because the phone number I got six years ago belonged to someone who did not pay a debt before the number was assigned to me. I called and recognized the name they said they were after because I've gotten calls for the guy off and on for the past six years as the number keeps rolling from one agency to the next. They call because they think the number really belongs to the person they are after, or that the person who answers actually knows that person and will get in touch with them and tell them to call the agency. I don't know the guy and don't understand why someone would just google him rather than call someone else who does not know him for six years! Asking them to stop only stops the current agency from calling. In a month or two the debt will be sold to someone else and it will start again.
