These people call my mother (Elizabeth Martin) who lives at assisted living and it 88 yrs old, babbling on about an emergency about a debt. She has no debts and these people will not explain anything to her. The calls are very disturbing and I want them to cease. These people ought to be sued or put in jail...at minimum put out of business!!!!How do I get the calls to STOP ...they are UNWANTED
Recd a call from phone number 405-555-0199 with similar verbage as others from a British accent woman concerning an important matter for me - she did not address me by name nor provided her name or company or what the 'important matter' pertained to at 8:31am on 2/12/2012. She strongly advised me to immediate call them back at 888-582-0117. I called the 888 number back from my work phone which displays the main number, not my actual number. I was put on hold then a woman came on the phone, forget her name but she was not the same woman who called me, nor would she provide even her company name but wanted my name which I did not provide. Must be a scam. Cross referencing with the 888 number.
I got a call from this number the man who asked for my social got very mad when I refused to give it over the phone yelled at me called me names and said the FBI would be comming after me. He also said he would not call me back until I grew up.
Received call yesterday, Caller name Bobbie. Stated I had a debt with some company named citifinancial from 2001. She had my name address and last four of SS#. I told her didn't know what she was talking about. She became more demanding. Told her call my attorney, she wasn't interested. Just veiled threats of filing some paperwork. Told me that it had four court judgements had been made. Told her never had heard a thing and don't waste my time. Bye.
Got a call from the 405 555 0199 guy named J Allen Smith left message to have me call back at 866-295-9370, called back, girl named Jessica From "DRS" said I had paperwork filed against me.....asked me to verify who I was by name and social which i refused and told her to mail everything to my home address which she apparently had.....she refused, told me I had to calm down, stated that my account would be put in as a "refusal" and said she would not mail out any more stuff for me to not respond to. LOL I never got any mail from this place. Anyway, she hung up on me after I accused her of digging for information. Some sort of shenanigans going on here.
this is definatly an Oklahoma city number just called my bf and it was an automated bull call must be a scam
Blocking a caller can be difficult, but not impossible. The problem with blocking Midland Credit Mgmt is they use a spoof number... 405-555-0199. They are located in San Diego, but this number is from Oklahoma. Now, more about blocking. If they are calling your cell phone, google www.trapcall.com. Join this service. This service strips away caller ID block, but a really nice feature is you can blacklist any number. If they try to call you and you ignore the call by hitting the 'ignore' button on your phone, they get a recording saying your number is disconnected. If they are calling your land line, the phone company may be able to block them, but don't count on too much help from them. These calls represent revenues to the phone company. I have Vonage for my home and can literally block any anonymous number from reaching me. If they try to hide their caller ID, they get a recording saying I do not accept anonymous calls. They never reach me because they don't want to unmask their number. If they do unmask their number, I can sue them as I sent them a certified mail 'cease and desist' letter as per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, a federal law. They tried to call me several times after their receipt of my certified 'cease and desist' letter, so I took the call so I could gather more evidence against them. I plan to sue. They violated the law seven times since delivery of my letter. That's seven violations at a penalty of $1,000.00 per violation... They are stubborn, but not too bright.
I just got called by this number and they asked me to verify my mailing address. I said I wouldn't unless they told me who they were. They said they couldn't do that until I verified my mailing address so they knew they had the correct person. I told them to send me a letter if they think they have my mailing address.Weird!!!
Got a call from this number and they left a voicemail saying they were chase home finance which is my mortgage company. I dont discuss my personal affairs at work so i guess when I didnt answer the work number or my cell number they figured they could trick me into answering the phone calling from a cloned number. All they had to do was leave me a voicemail one of the first FOUR times they called me.
