Hey call me I have my phone stupid they asked me to verify if I were the person that they were calling 4 and try to get me to verify last 4 digits of the social security number and when I ask them how they were they close that I give them the information that they wanted first before they verify how they were to me I told them that I did not verify information over the phone to people I did not know who would not tell me who they are and I told them to have a nice day and hung up I found out later after calling the number back that they called me from that it is a directory assistance number the directory assistance number ask for residential or business and government and I feel that they are getting peoples numbers from the directory assistance and call random people in trying to get money out of people for their own pleasure I called the number back and it asked me residential or business and government and then it asks me to put in city and state I put in detroit michigan it gave me 3 phone number 2 business and government facilities my suggestion to all of you who read this do not answer the number which is 4055550199 ever

Called at 8:15AM. No one on the line and when I called the number back a recording came on stating that my call could not be completed as dialed. I'm on the Do Not Call list so whoever you are, DO NOT CALL. Get a life and stop harassing mine.

Meantime, the person I'd replied to clearly said the collector "had the wrong number". If it's truly a dead end for a collector, a cease-comm letter is a perfectly safe and appropriate response. If the calls *had* been reaching the correct alleged debtor, I too would not recommend the full cease-comm. But don't try to snow us with a non-strategy of resignation. This fearmongering author claims the only other option is to "tough out the collection process" and "talk to them ... until you work out a deal", as if every debt is valid and every collector is honest.As I had already summarized before your "CTRL-V" advice, the FDCPA provides that we can raise a dispute which forces an agency to clam up until it validates, which could take anywhere from a few weeks to forever. The law also enables the alleged debtor to limit or ban all phone contact. Last year I succussfully took a typical Buffalo Bully to court for, among many other issues, ignoring my written orders regarding how to contact me.

WE HAVE BEEN GETTING THIS CALL NOW FOR ABOUT TWO AND HALF WEEKS. SOMETIMESTWO TO THREE TIMES A DAY. WHEN YOU SAY HELLO THEY HANG UP. WHEN I TRY TO CALL BACK I RECEIVED A MESSAGE THAT MY CALL COULD NOT BE COMPLETED AT THIS TIME TRY AGAIN LATER. I HAVE CALL THE PHONE COMPANY AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO STOP THIS CALLER.

Yesterday I got a call from this number by "John" who said he was Microsoft support. He said he called me because my computer was throwing off error messages. He wanted me to get on my computer so he could show me how it was infected.

I just got 2 back to back calls from this number. I was reading this thread when the 2nd one cam in. I assumed it was a scam as I dont get many out of area calls that I dont recognize...Also I did just buy some appliances from HOME DEPOT about 3 weeks before the calls. Maybe thats where the scammers are getting their source of phone numbers from...I had ordered some other appliances from Home Depot about 4 months ago and I'm pretty sure I got some similar calls from some scamers... SO, if this number called you, and you recently made some sort of purchase order, it may help to say what company you dealed with to try and link these F&%!ng scam artist to their source....
