Just got a "credit card" update call from this number. Did not answer the phone. They left a very short message but no ID as to who was making the call.
Call stating that I could get a reduction of my interest rate, when a person answered she asked if my credit card debt was over $3000.When I told her that I was on the DO NOT CALL list and should never receive calls of this type the line was disconnected.
Received a call from 407-480-9999 and they left a recorded message regarding my credit card.
I've been getting a few calls from this number, if i remember correctly, no messages leftMy caller ID read:CELL PHONE FL(orida)407-480-9999
Exactly, which is also why you don't hear a response immediately when you say "hello" - because it doesn't connect to a human until that "hello" is heard. So you can blow your whistle or let your software send the fax screech but you aren't irritating anyone because by the time they get on the line they will be hearing silence.
Whenever I get unknown or unavailable numbers now, I just pick it upand hang it back up immediately.
The Do Not Call list is useless because US laws do not apply overseas, and even if they did enforcement is impossible. These people are "spoofing" the caller ID number from a location anywhere in the world, which is why you can't get a hold of them if you attempt to call back. Furthermore, if you read the FTC's own website, it states "Do not call complaints will be entered into a secure online database available to civil and criminal law enforcement agencies. While the FTC does not resolve individual consumer problems, your complaint will help the agency investigate the company, and could lead to law enforcement action" In other words, they're not enforcing anything - they're just collecting data in case anyone else is also investigating the company.
If it's a female voice, just speak in a very firm, but calm voice and say:"Do you know the number to the Rape Crisis Hotline? You might want to look it up."Then just stay on the phone and don't do anything until they hang up. If that sounds like a terrible, unaccaptable thing to do, just remember that it is NOT a human being on the other end of the line who had feelings just like you. This is a TELEMARKETER. They are no more deserving of compassion, mercy or decency than any child molester of home invader. If more people were verbally abusive and outright nasty and horrible to these people when they call, then they might actually quit and find a real job. If it's not a female, then I go off on some racist rant asking if they're a jew or something like that. It usually freaks them out and gets them to hang up. As long as I can ruin a telemarketer's day and leave them an emotional wreck than I've done some good in the world.
Again a call from this outfit. ID'd themselves as "Rachel of credit card services" telling me that I don't have a problem with my credit but I could lower my interest rate to 6.9%. BIG SCAM, this is the second call in 48 hours.A call back on this number goes to an intercept informing me that "the number you have dialed is not in service", obviously not a legitimate company.
