We got a call from this number today at 11:31 am but didn't answer, and there was no voicemail The caller ID said "Florida". When I called the number I got a recording which said "Sorry, the number you reached is not in service." This to me is characteristic of some sort of scam.

Called machine 11:47 EDT. No message

I only get these calls on lines I registered with the Do Not Call List. My main lane has not been registered on the Do Not Call List and I barely if ever get these types of calls on them!Another reason I don't trust the Federal Government!

Only honorable callers honor the DNC list. Don't expect thieves and weasels to honor it. Not to mention that the government does not enforce the list. Stop counting on them to do so unless you want to continue to be disappointed. Figure out a way to get even on your own.

It like locking your front door; only honest people will not enter - so only honest businesses pay attention to "no call" lists.

Until they do.....they haven't. Could be a scammer, bill collector, phishing for info, and many other callers. Not one post so far describes anything but discontent. The DNC list is just a list. Nothing else. Nothing mechanical and no army of government employees to maintain a watchful eye on 500 million + telephones and each and every call made in the USA, every day. It doesn't monitor, screen, block calls or provide any mechanical service. It simply provides names and numbers to legitimate businesses registered with the FTC as Telemarketing firms who must purchase this list in order not to call those who are listed. It was never established or intended as a policing tool against every unwanted caller that rings a phone. Unless the caller violates the laws of the DNC as layed out by the FTC, it is a job for the FCC and does not bear the burdon of running down every unwanted call to every telephone in the US.
