FYI... These calls are dialed by auto dialers to get true residential assigned numbers once the call is answered by you or your answering machine they have confirmation its a good number and the numbers are sold to telemarketers. The only thing you can do is disconnect your answer machines and let it ring..

Dear Gee, Your first of several very knowledgeable posts was in response to the following question - 'What good is the Do Not Call List?'. Although it wasn't your intent, I'd like to thank you for explaining in detail that the answer to the originally posed question is 'It's not of any value'. So here we are with another tax payer funded federal department that's of no value.Given your comments, I assume you're employed by either a telemarketing firm that dances with legalities or that you're a federal employee based in a department related to the Do Not Call List. If the second is true, can you share your department's budget, along with some examples that would help warrant the department's existence? If I'm wrong on your background, please share your expertise with your readers.PS - Please disregard this message if your department is in any way connected to the IRS.

I received a call from this number at 11:30am central time. I picked up the phone, but didn't say anything. Most recordings are voice activated, but this one wasn't. The voice was a cheery male telling me that I had received a special rate on a Disneyworld vacation. I was to use a three digit confirmation number and press #1 to speak with someone or press #2 and my phone number will be removed. I pressed #2 and heard a woman's voice say "Your number has been removed." I should have called back and gotten a confirmation on that!

Scam robocall claiming you've won a free Walt Disney vacation if you'll just give us your credit card number so we can rip you off. Caller ID only said "Florida" - a dead giveaway to a scam. Legit callers don't mind being identified.

Tell that crap to the NSA

Call at 4:51pm, CST on 7/12/13 ... Call type: SCAMI picked up but didn't say anything. Recorded male voice immediately told me that "I had a special rate on a Disneyworld vacation. Gave me 3-digit number to enter to 'claim' ... press 1 to speak with someone or press 2 to remove my phone number." I blocked #; added post here; filed report w/both state & federal DNC violations. Legitimate companies abide by the rules....But this is like spam email, folks...no efficient way to block/stop the abuse...unless of course you actually want the govt tapping all your phones and phone calls ( & everything you do on-line) just to be sure the 'bad' guys get caught !

Received phone call from this number, I called the number back and I receive a phone company recorded message the number you have reached is not in service, please check the number and try your call again
