Got the call last night at 8:06. I have a trac phone and do not have an ATM card for Bangor Savings like they had stated. they said it was cancelled.
got a call from this number and didn't pick up not sure who it was but sounds like a scam to me...
Received a call from this number on my cell phone. It started out saying that my account with Point Bank and been suspended andn was telling me to press one to talk to a representative. I hung up because i don't have nor have ever had an account from Point Bank.
We appreciate it when people like 'Yet Another' try to explain that phone numbers of legitimate businesses can be 'spoofed'. Just because a number appears on your caller ID does not mean that you 'received a call from that number'. It is a major pain receiving these calls at home or on your cell -- it is a much larger pain when your company's phone system is tied up because of them. Caller ID Spoofing is currently not illegal. But, that can change because there is a piece of legislation currently in the Senate (having passed the House with only one 'no' vote) but is locked in committee. Please, if you want to be rid of people spoofing caller ID numbers upon you, contact your US Senators and ask them to help move this legislation along. It is called: HR1110 - Phone Act of 2009. You can google it for more information.
I got a message from this number too while driving home from work, it said my Great Southern debit card had been locked and needed to be unlocked. I figured it was a scam, and I didn't even have a Great Southern card, so I talked to the person on the other end and told them to give me the name on the card so "I can determine whether it's my or my wife's card". They couldn't give me that info, so I told them I was going to call back on the phone number that was located on the back of the credit card. That's what I did when I got home, I called Great Southern Bank and they verified that it was indeed a scam. The poor guy at Great Southern sounded pretty ticked off too, because he had probably already fielded 50 calls like mine. Now I'm gonna rant...NEVER give your card number to anyone who called you, ONLY give your card number to the person you called from the number on the back of your card. If you ever get a phone call about your bank card, tell them you're going to hang up and then call them back from the phone number that's on the back of the card. If they're indeed from the bank card company, they will understand and not try to pressure you to do anything; if they do pitch a fit, then it's definitely a scam and you should immediately hang up and then call your bank or card issuer.NEVER call the number that comes up on the caller ID. It's extremely easy to spoof a phone number. Today that number may be spoofed to a poor business that's missing business calls because they are receiving calls from worried cardholders, but tomorrow the number may be spoofed to another business that will pose as your bank or some bogus credit card agency and they will take whatever info you think you need to tell them to 'get your card unlocked'.Dem's my two cents. Have a good day, keep alert, and stay safe!
I GOT A PHONE CALL FROM THIS NUMBER AND IT SAID IT WAS F and M Bank. and that my debit card was suspended and to wait for the prompt to activate my card again. I hung up because I dont have an acct with this bank. So I used my house phone to call that number and no one ever answered.SO I KNOW ITS A SCAMMER. HOWEVER JUST MINUTES LATTER THAT SAME NUMBER CALLED MY HOUSE PHONE AND HIS NAME CAME UP ON MY CALLER ID IT IS VECTOR FABRICAT.I SUGGEST EVERYONE CALL THE POLICE AND REPORT HIS NUMBER AND THIS NAME. I GOT THE SAME RECORDED MESSAGE FROM MY HOUSE PHONE AS WHEN THEY CALLED MY CELL PHONE AND I HAVE NO CLUE HOW OR WHY THEY WOULD HAVE MY CELL NUMBER.
Same here. Robot call saying my ATM card has been canceled and to press one to speak with a "security expert". I smelled a scam hung up as fast as possible.
Just got a call from this number at 10:30PM. Didn't answer and like I always do I google it to find out where it came from. It rang twice and by the time I got it picked up it had already stopped ringing, no message left.Really rather stupid people. After reading this...makes me wonder why they do it in the wee hours of the morning when most people are sleeping.
