VERY LIKELY A SCAM! I worked at SSA HQs in Woodlawn MD. There are thousands of employee phone numbers there that begin with 410-965-xxxx. When an employee calls outside of the SSA building, it goes through a central switch so every SSA employee's number will display 410-965-1234 on your caller ID. So this call is coming from SSA in Woodlawn MD, however it is very likely an SSA employee or SSA Contractor running a scam. SSA doesn't call asking for info like this, and think about it, IT'S THE SSA, THEY ALREADY HAVE YOUR SSN! So why would they call you and ask for it? There are good and bad people at most offices, looks like some bad ones here. And thinking about it, it makes sense you are receiving these calls on weekends and at night, BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE IS AT THE OFFICE. THESE SCAMMERS DON'T WON'T OTHER SSA EMPLOYEES HEARING THEIR CALLS TO YOU! When employees enter SSA on nights/weekend, they scan in, so if SSA wants to investigate this it should be easy to see the very few people there off hours. Also beware it appears these scammers are giving you false info on this site as well. One person said its from the Falls Church VA office. VA is area code 703, 410 is a Baltimore area code.

In each state the social security offices have either a local number in each state and a toll free. I don't live in Oregon. And furthermore the first 5 numbers are never needed only the last 4. Which means anyone defending this number is part of the scam.

I work for Social Security. This is indeed likely an internal SSA number, but I have received at least 5 calls from this number at my internal SSA number and it is answered by another one of those recorded messages for a credit card number scam. It's an obvious case of caller ID spoofing.

I doubt it's an SSA employee running a scam, I think it's much more likely just caller ID spoofing by a scammer who has nothing to do with SSA.

Yes, I got a call from this number and it was from the Social Security Administration. The person making the call left voice mail and gave me her personal number and extension and she had my personal information, asked for no additional information, and told me what my benefits will be.

Go to the Social Security Admin web site ssa.gov and put the telephone number 410-965-1234 in the search window. This will take you to a page on SCAMMERS and phone calls from SCAMMERS. Also will tell you about the fake social security hold message the scammers play when they place you on hold. Also it will tell you about the fake Web information associated with this phone number.

I had recieve a call from a girl name Latisha. She said that I had a workman's comp case that they need the info from it to send to her if not they will be taking almost $600 off my monthly benefits. Then she had no info about my case nor had access to SSA info online, that I Even had. She said I wouldn't get my benefits because I didn't give then that info or I haven't talked to anyone at all about my case but my case is done...I called SSA & they called & stated that they are aware & is trying to bring it to an end. Other people have beer calling about this same thing...

I filled out info on a scam website RELAXAPPLY.COM, to get a replacement social security card. After filling in a bunch of sensitive information I had a funny feeling and Googled reviews only to find out it was a scam (b4 entering in my debit card info, thank God!). So I quit and the next morning got a phone call from sum guy stating he was from the SSA and was calling in regards to an online transaction I made for a replacement social security card and he would call back. When I called the number back the voice-mail says it's the headquarters of the social security administration! ! SCAM don't give them ANY INFO! WHY hasn't our WONDERFUL government shut them down?!!!
