I received a call from this number and decided to call the SSA's main number I found on the SSA.gov website. The rep that I talked to verified that this is a legitimate SSA number and that it is important to call back if you have a claim in process.
Received some voicemails from this number on my work phone. It was just a beeping noise.
Got a call from these losers today. Just it go to voice mail. Voice of an elderly woman leaving the message and trying to get me to call on my disability claim. Then not more than five minutes later she called back, knowing that it was a scam I answered and she told me there was a problem with my claim and that she needed my first 5 numbers of my SSAN. I asked why would you need that if it is on the computer screen in front of you? She was trying to tell me it was for security reasons, BS for security reasons. I told her that if there was anything that needed to be discussed about my claim she needed to talk to my lawyer who is on record as my representative in this matter. It took about a milla-second for her to hang up the phone. What a bunch of scum bags. There is more info about these dirt bags on the SSA.gov website, just put the number in the search block and it will pull up the info.
I recently replied for retirement benefits, and I'm waiting for a decision. Just got a call from this number, did not answer, and a voicemail was left. My husband called and said Latrice from SS just called and said you can get your benefits from this past January, you don't have to wait until May. This was odd, because I had asked for my benefits to start in May. I suspected it was a scam, so I googled and found this site. Out of curiosity, I called the number she left (410-965-2981), and she identified herself from SS. I told her I knew she wasn't from SS and that this was a scam. She did have attitude and said she is only trying to help me and needs to ask me some questions, or else my claim was not going to go through. I said OK, ask, and she asked my name. Really?? She's calling me and doesn't know my name? I asked how it is that she doesn't have my name and, with lots of nasty attitude she said, "Ma'am, I have 300 claims in front of me. Do you want me to go through all 300 to look for yours? I said yes. She said "then I'm giving you the daily tone," and hung up. There is NO WAY this is a legitimate call from SS. This is Saturday, and I'm calling the SS number on Monday to report this.
Caller ID said U.S. govt. said he was with SSA as I had just applied on line. Wanted to verify my info and wanted my SSN! Would not give it to him. Beware!!!!
Some body calls me from this number and trying to tell me they are from the irs and trying to get $5000.00 from me ...oh my god ..there are lot of scams around here ..please ignore the phone calls from this number they are really bad****** scammers ..
Latrice,I am trying to verify that you called me on my cell phone yesterday afternoon (5/5) to obtain information. I did call back later when I arrived home. Thank you very much.Santford
This was a real phone call from Social Security. My husband submitted his online retirement claim just two days before. The application asks for your contact phone number and clearly states they may call with questions. They called to ask a few clarifying questions and to give him his monthly payment date and amount. He did not give them any identifying information and without his application in front of them they would not have any of the information they gave him.If you have recently submitted a social security application I suggest you answer the call but be very careful and assure yourself that they are indeed from SS.
