They called me 10/28 at 8:35 P.M. and 10/29 at 8:04 P.M. First call was about grants and tonight nothing. "PUB INTEREST CM" was on caller ID
They've recently started calling once or twice per day. We're on the Do Not Call List and don't pick up.
Wrong, not right, and ever so wrong. Ignoring them ensures they will call again and again and again. Well meaning, perhaps. Wrong, and pretty ignorant of how telemarketers operate. This is, in fact, a "typical" telemarketer. There are rules against the hang-up, but Congress has been bought by telemarketers, and there are a lot of loopholes in the rules. They deliberately hang up millions of times a day, because they dial many numbers at once, and someone else answers their phone faster. The slowpokes get hang-ups.I hate it.I hate it.I hate it, but the best thing to do is pick up the phone, find out who they are, and tell them to put you on all do not call lists. Then, you:1) Have ammunition with which you can sue them next time and collect between $500 and $10,000 per telephone call.2) Have a pretty good chance you'll be disappointed, because they probably won't call back. There are scripts on the Internet you can use, to be sure you get the right information (If you're going to sue.) and tell them the right things to ensure they cannot call back legally.
I wouldn't shy away from donating to the charity because of the telemarketer, just ask them to remove you from their lists.
This a very persistent telemarketer! Calls 2-3 times daily at all hours. I do not pick up the phone, but that does not stop them. They leave no message. Once I did pick up, intending to tell the caller to remove my name from their list, but it was a recorded message. Then I tried calling them back, but got a recording that this number has been disconnected! They are either scam artists, or totally inept at what they are doing because they only alienate people. My number has been on a national do-not-call list for two years. Why are these pests getting through and how do I stop them? Please help!!Thanks, Irene
Hi,I just followed your advice and called 703-847-8300. Actually got a living person (the receptionist) to answer the call. Gave her a piece of my mind (in polite language) about what a nuisance their calls have been. She apologized and promised to remove my name from their list and pass on the complaint to her superviser. Hopefully, I'll be hearing from them no more.Irene
This number, 412--622-7387, has been calling me 2-3 times/day for the past several weeks. I have asked them at least 3 times to stop calling my number, plus I have diconnected their calls without talking to them (after recognizing them via Caller ID). Today, I called them back and left a message on their voice mail. I find it interesting they are possibly calling on behalf of a wildlife organization. I also USED to support 2-3 wildlife groups, and other charities, until they all inundated me with address labels. If I lived to be a l000, I couldn't use them up! Enough already. They didn't stop sending the labels when I asked, so I stopped sending THEM $$$! I wish I could contribute to good organizations without being mailed junk I don't want, or sent horrifying pictures of animals suffering, or CALLED on the phone when I'm on the DO NOT CALL Registry!! (Some registry; does it actually work?)
