Yet again the do not call registry is a waste of time as scam artists just claim 'charity' or 'survey'. The only true way to stop this is for EVERY SINGLE CANADIAN to never do unsolicited telephone business. Ever.
Just received a call claiming to be from the Children's Aid Society? They asked for anything toys, clothing etc. I thought they supported giving kids gifts, not used materials? Also, strange that other charities identify their businesses on a Call Display ("Out of Area") and the phone range with a long-distance tone, I live in Toronto and this should not happen unless the display is hiding their true identity. Reading the earlier comments, I noticed all the different company names associated with this P$ to support my assumption this is likely a SCAM.
They called twice today. When I answered, there was no immediate response (i.e. robocall-type machine) that connects you to someone if you wait long enough. That's right, I have to answer the phone and be put on hold until someone picks up... The second time they called, the answering machine called and they did not leave a message.
They called us tonight claiming to be collecting on Oct. 26 for "The Children's Wish Foundation" and wanting clothes, jewelery, bedding and more.So they were lying in that they did not identify themselves as Recycling Matters which a "for profit" company as far as I know.
They just called identifying themselves as the "The Children's Wish Foundation" for clothing pickup on Nov. 04th. Not sure what to believe. I researched this company and found a "for profit" private business selling our used clothing with some of the proceeds going to charity. The charity does not incur any costs/expenses or risks for allowing this association hence their support for basically free money. Details of the company and website link is below for your own interpretation. Not sure what to believe as there is no information on the amount that actually filters down as a donation. I give quite often to different charities and they always leave a voice mail. Kind of interesting these people call all the time and never left a message. Could they be a scam so their is no voice evidence? I suspect these guys cannot be trusted and likely a scam.
its a scam check ur phone bill I suspect they call from a certain phone line that pays Ex. 5 cents per sec, something like that, thats y they dont pick up immediatly, they want to waste time if you send them money thats just a cover up and they get extra
