Children's Wish Foundation is just about as bad a fake charity or scam as "Recycling Matters." So it's not surprising they are linked in with Recycling Matters (or whatever it's called). You want to get a real eye-opener? Google administrative charges and [charity name] and see what portion of your dollar goes to the actual charity. In the case of Childrens' Wish Foundation, 80% of every dollar donated to this "charity" goes to "administrative charges." The other 20% goes to the charity (i.e. the "children" whose wish is granted). Does it surprise you that they would get a scam organization to do their solicitation for them? Check out ANY charity before you give and find out what their executive directors, assistants are getting versus the actual charity. In the case of Children's Miracle Network donations go directly to the children's hospital closest to the collecting agency--for instance if you live in Ottawa it will go to CHEO (Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario); if you live in Mississauga or the GTA, it will go to Toronto Sick Children's Hospital. ALL of it. Burger King, Walmart, Costco and a lot of the big companies direct charitable funds this way because it's more reputable (there IS no huge executive CMN staff anywhere). Don't get me wrong--these big companies are getting their "cut of the action" in the form of a corporate tax receipt. YOU donate your loonie or toonie at BK, and BK gets the tax break, BUT at least they give your entire loonie or toonie to CMN--nothing off the top for some administrator somewhere.

very simply put.if you do not want to show who you are (Unknown on call display), then you are unknown to me .you want me to talk to me?tell me who you are? company name..., name of person calling...,and where you are calling from. firstthenmaybe i will listen to what you have to say.other wise stop calling .

A quick internet search reveals that Recycling Matters is a PROGRAM of Community Living, which IS a registered charity. The reason the name of the caller doesn't appear is likely due to the fact that many organizations contract out solicitation and survey calls to marketing companies. Obviously, most people would not answer the phone if they saw the name of a marketing company on their phone, myself included. So, I'm not surprised a name doesn't appear. But don't assume the charity or caller is a scam just because the name doesn't show up. Of course you should be vigilant about calls asking for donations, but don't jump to conclusions. These charities need to ask for help somehow. If everyone was generous enough to donate without them needing to ask, I'm sure they wouldn't be calling us during dinner.I'm not saying it makes these calls any less annoying or that all charities deserve donations because they use their funds wisely. I just want to explain that some organizations generally don't have the resources to be calling people themselves. They have to outsource, so that's why some people got the call from "Recycling Matters" and others from "Children's Wish Foundation." And the reason you still get these calls even if you're on the Do Not Call list is because registered charities are exempt. Since a marketing company may call on BEHALF of the charity, they are allowed to call you.

Just got a call from this number 2x's in a row. Caller I.D. showed out of area.I didn't answer as i don't answer numbers i don't know, but thanks to these posts i know i will not answer.

Now the people who answered the phone said they were CCC i asked them to spell it out and said Colect Com Corp a colection agency I think that there is a block of phone no. that tella marketers and phone harrasers use and discard when they are found out so the can comtinue to be a pain in the [***]

Call 1-866-9-2REUSE (927-3873) and wait for option 2 which is to leave a msg to remove yourself from their calling list. I did, they did, I'm happy.
