im only fifteen and obvioulsy dont owe money to any bank, company whats so ever...and this number keeps calling. i blocked but they still call what do i do?
I have had several calls from this number on my cell phone. Only once has someone been there when I answered. The woman's voice asked for a Latin America sounding name. I told her there was no one here by that name. The 6-8 other calls have had no one on the other end.
4:01 PM April 22, 2009Automated system talking about credit card debt. I held on to speak to a human. I advised human to remove from the calling list. I was abruptly hung on by human wothout a word.
Received a recorded call from this number saying the call was for an unintelligible first name. When attempting to call them back to determine what the call was about and who it was for, received recordings that would not allow me to leave a message. I am certain they have the wrong person/number since I do not have any past due debts, but I cannot reach anyone to tell them to remove my number from their computer calling system, not matter which method I've tried.
These "people" just called me about a debt from 1999. A store credit card in my name had been used without my knowledge. The original amount was about $200. The three credit agencies tell me it had indeed "dropped off" and was nowhere on my credit record, and to ignore any calls I may get to the contrary. This debt was made prior to the law being changed-- to where it could be sold endlessly, with offers of settlement ranging from 10%-80%. Anyone can buy these lists and harass, threaten, scare and perhaps be the lucky winner of a collection they aren't entitled to.I have received collection efforts by mail before, but this was my first by phone. I have received offers to settle for as little as $35. I ignore it and it gets sold again.I asked the woman on the phone how much they wanted, and was told $680! I almost yelled in the phone, "$680 on a twelve year old $200 bill? Are you out of your mind?" She informed me she had NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE ORIGINAL AMOUNT!I informed her of my rights and the law. At that point she became slightly more subdued, until I told her she better lose my number, and never EVER bother me again, at which point she mocked me about knowing my rights, and cheerfully told me to have a nice day before slamming the receiver down hard enough to break an eardrum. These people are the dregs of society. They attempt to sound authoritative and important, as they try to STEAL whatever crumbs of an ancient debt they may be able to scare out of someone who doesn't know any better. They are sociopathic losers.
Yes I have had the same type of calls from this phone number and have asked them to stop calling me. I live in Austin Texas, who do we contact to have these calls stop.. I don't owe anyone anything.. Thanks
I keep recieving calls from this number and I have told them over and over that I have no idea who this person is and they continue to call
Ive also been getting these dumbos calls. They call like others said at all hours of the day and night. 7am on weekend mornings when we finally get to sleep in. I didnt answer the phone for the first few months as I dont typically answer weird companies calls but i decided to yesterday to ask them to stop calling. The first one I got through to a deep voiced man, he started to say one sentence and the phone disconnected before he could even finish it. He never called back then. Today they called again. It hung up half way through the recording thing they make you go through. I dont mind legit debt collectors trying to find people, but come on! Your driving us all nuts.
