I got the same called twice: last night and this morning at about 10:00 am. Both times, I picked up the phone, I waited 3 or 4 seconds, then I hung up without my saying a word!!! Nothing satisfies me more than hanging up on those hoodlums.
Received a call at 9:30-ish p.m. I said, "Hello?" Silence. I said, "Hello?" again. Silence. In a few seconds, I heard a computerized woman's voice say, "Thank you". I hung up.That's it. Shouldn't have answered b/c I didn't recognize the number.
I just hang up on these calls. But a lady in our community went along with everything they said to do . She lost control of her computer. They called back later and told her they could get control back to her but they needed her to give them $100.00. She didn't pay and still has not got control of her computer.
Got a call from this number and when I answered all I got was "Goodbye" tried a call back and got "Due to telephone company problems your call cannot be completed." Just added that number to by blocked call list.
Called today, I said hello like 5 times, someone said hello and then I said hello again and they hung up. I tried to call back and it says that number is disconnected or something. This is ridiculous - 3/4 of the calls we get a BS like this anymore!
Just received a call from that phone number. I believe if anyone ever used Microsoft for help and allowed them access that the ROGUE staff then use your information to contact you at a later date. If you called or dealt with Microsoft late at night then you are connected to their out-sourced handlers which most often is located in India....most times I will ask where they stationed from or if there is a language barrier at the start of my conversation I just hang up and wait to the next morning to get U.S. staff.
They call me about 5 times per day... even on my work phone too. Annoying. I asked to be put on their do not call list, and he said it would cost me $99.95 to do so. LOL... but hten he was extreamly rude/aggressive/threatening and insisted that they will be calling me multiple times per day until I go to their website and "scan" my computer for issues.Unfortunately they call from multiple numbers, and it is hard to keep up with the numbers to block the calls.
he says im with windows i tell them im all apple no windows in this house tell them to remove my number but they never do
If you have a phone that has caller I.D. you can block any number very easily, that's what I do. I have a cheap Uniden cordless and I just use the handset to block numbers, works great.
best buy and geek squad will scam you out of hundreds of dollars. They will try to sell you a new system. In some cases they will copy your more 'ahem' personal pictures for their buddies.Try a small local shop that is trustworthy and won't upsell you. $100 bucks is a decent price to backup your precious files and then a full reformat and reinstall your operating system.Choosing a 'restore point' is questionable depending on what type of remote control virus they put on the machine. The more crafty scammers will put an auto restore bug with their software and reinstall after a restore point is done. The scammer will copy your personal credit information and password file and either let you go or will turn your computer into a zombie bot for illegal activity.
