I have had several calls from this number. The last few were just harassing me when I told them I did not have a computer. They must know who has them somehow. I actually reported one call to the policebecause they became very foul mouthed.
I use the Digitone and just blocked this number because they called after 9 at night. Digitone works very well, it costs around $100 but it is well worth it to be able to permanently block numbers and area codes. I chose Digitone because it was the highest rated one on Amazon dot com. At first I did not want to pay $100, now I am very pleased I did. Phone companies are of no help and Do not call lists do not work.
Just got a 5th call from these guys today from a 4th different number. They actually don't say they're Microsoft, they say they're from "Windows Support Center". Subtle difference. In any case, it's a malware scam. I have blocked the 3 other numbers they called from, all 3 of which were local to me (BC, Canada), and now this one is coming from the 425 area code. They're pretty persistent and I swear it sounds like the same guy every time. Here are the 3 other numbers they've called me from:(604) 484-3599(778) 329-0323(778) 329-0324Super persistent [***]. I just yelled at the guy for calling me at 9:15pm and waking up my 1-year-old and told him to take me off his damned list. He apologized and I hung up. Odds are they'll call again, too...
Just called to tell me that my computer was compromised and ask me to follow instructions to begin fixing. Told them I don't have a pc and that if he was not lying he would know that. Heavy accented south east Asian man.
This is one of those "I am calling you from Microsoft Vindows... you're computer has viruses" DO NOT LISTEN TO THE LIES AND CRAP THEY WILL TRY TO MAKE YOU BELIEVE.These guys will do their best to convince you to go to a website/address and download and run a program (OF THEIRS) to scan your computer. If you do it, you will get told that your computer is full of viruses and most everything WILL cease to function. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR COMPUTER AND THEY ARE NOT...I REPEAT NOT FROM MICROSOFT OR ANY OTHER LEGITIMATE COMPANY OR AGENCY.The program they will direct you to will cripple your computer... antivirus programs and all. It isn't a virus but a program that disables the regular operation of just about everything in your system.THEN, after proving to you that you are infected, they will offer to FIX your computer (or undo all the screwing up they have done) for $99-$199... credit card necessary of course. As soon as they identify themselves as being from Vindows, hang up as fast as you possible can. They are dirt-bags that should be castrated and kept from reproducing.
These guys are hackers and will have all your personal information before you even hang up if you talk with them. My girlfriend had her computer totally ruined because she fell for their scam. They are using numerous phone numbers to avoid being turned into the Do Not Call Registry.
Received a call several hours ago that was identified as originating from 011 425-668-9652. Was suspicious; however, figured I'd answer the call to see what happened. There was about a 5-second pause and then a computer-generated voice stated "good bye" and the line went dead. Have not received any further calls at this time.
Recieved 2 calls 9-2-13 at 7:45 p.m. The man had an Arabic accent (India or Pakistan?). He told me that our Windows OS had errors. We hung up. He called right back.
