Received a call from them; and there was no answer. I called the number back and had no problem with them removing me from calls for the next 6 months. (*I* requested 6 months b/c I am having medical issues- I hope to donate after) Very nice, easy to set up.

The best thing for you to do is to call the 1-800-398-7888 number to get removed. If you have never donated with them before most likely if that is a newer phone number for you someone who had your phone number before was a blood donor. If that is the case there is no way for the callers at psbc to know about that. As for there being no one on the line even when you do answer, the simple answer is that its a predictive dialer. Unfortunately there are some flaws using a predictive dialer. It is set by default not to leave a message. You can have this changed very easily by just calling the 800#. The dialer is just automatically set to call until it reaches a live person which is why there are multiple calls. I am a bit unsure about you saying they have called at 9pm. I do know that the callers leave at 8:45pm so that I don't know about. Maybe theres a ghost caller there, who knows :) I'm not disagreeing that its a flawed system I'm just trying to give ppl a little more insight into what there doing and how easy it is for donors to have the call settings changed. If anything you could just have e-mails sent to you from them. That's what I did and its just fine. Give them a call and they are more then willing to make the changes for you. They just can't make it better unless they know what you want done. Good luck :)

The Do Not Call List Explained By Someone With 10 Years Experience As A Market Research Interviewer:Indeed, you can't just complain about the PSBC abusing the Do Not Call thing and expect them to stop - it doesn't work like that. I've worked as a market research interviewer for over 10 years, and there are many people who threaten to report whatever firm I'm working at, and nothing ever happens. This is why: The Do Not Call list has 3 and only 3 exemptions to the rule (meaning these types of calls are allowed): 1) Charities (as a non-profit blood donation site, the PSBC would fall under this category), 2) Calls on behalf of Politicians, and 3) Market Research (phone interviews for public opinion). However, all of these places DO have their own internal "Do Not Call" list. What happens is (at least with market research firms) they have a dialing program that grabs an area code and prefix of their target area and randomly generates the rest of the numbers and calls it. This is how you end up getting called when you're on the Do Not Call list, and as stated before it is perfectly legal as long as the company is in one of those 3 categories. Each number dialed can be saved into a database, and these databases have flags, one of which is a Do Not Call flag. If you get called and say that you are on the Do No Call list, or wish to not be called again, the number is flagged Do Not Call by the caller and the call ends (that's the idea anyway - sometimes the caller, for whatever reason, doesn't apply the flag. Be NICE to your callers! :P) When a number is randomly generated it is checked against these flags in the database. If it has a Do Not Call flag, a new number is generated and checked against these flags again until one is created that meets the criteria for being callable. If you're interested in reporting a company for calling you when you're on the Do Not Call list, don't simply ask for the company's name and leave it at that - ask what TYPE of company it is or what the call is about (it should be obvious in their greeting). Again - Charities, calls on behalf of Politicians, and Market Research are ALL GIVEN THE GREEN LIGHT TO CALL NUMBERS ON DO NOT CALL LISTS BECAUSE THEY THEMSELVES DO NOT USE LISTS TO CALL OUT FROM. Anybody else can and should be reported immediately. Also: Regardless of if you're on the Do Not Call list or not, ALL cell phones are (at least the last time I checked anyway) automatically forbidden to be reached, whether it is by one of these 3 types of calls or not (remember that these numbers are randomly generated so there's no way to tell just where it will go, but most companies are aware of cell phone prefixes and intentionally make the computer re-dial if it picks one of them, so the chances of calling a cell phone are pretty small - I've only called about 3 or 4 in all my 10 years). Most companies will offer reimbursement of minutes used in contacting you on your cell phone, however before they hang up you CAN give permission for the call to proceed, though you waive any right to refunds if you do (this may vary by company).

I have been getting like 15 calls per day this week. It is from the Puget Sound Blood Bank. They're apparently trying to get a live body so they can ask you to donate blood. I answered one of harrassing calls and had them remove my phone numbers permanently from their database. I don't mind the e-mails and will donate when I want to, but I will NOT answer harrasment non-ending phone calls to do it. They just lost a regular donor as far as I'm concerned. I know they need more people to donate, but this is not the way to get me. They're making me dispise them and avoid them instead of feeling sorry for them not having enough donors. Call the guy in the notes below and he'll take care of you too.

Their robo-dialer called my wife's cell phone at 8:46pm. I don't care if they think it's for a good cause. Our three year old is in bed and we don't wish to be disturbed at this hour of the evening; certainly not for a solicitation. How they got her phone number is beyond me; we just moved to the area and I'm certain she's never donated blood in Tacoma. There's no excuse. Harassing calls are unacceptable regardless of your company's tax status.

Well, I don't mind that the Puget Sound Blood Center is calling me. It is a honor to be able to donate blood and possibly save a life. If you have a smart phone, it is easy enough to program a number in to go directly to voice mail. But if you can - go give some blood!

I keep on telling them I do not have time to give blood, which I have a rare type. They continue to call many times during the day. It gets downright annoying.

They call me numerous times a day without leaving a message and when I do answer they hang up.

I think it's the fact that over a 2 week period I received close to 50 calls from them. I was not answering my phone due to the phone call either being at 645 in the morning or during work hours. That is harassment and ridiculous.

Keep getting calls from this number. Caller ID says 'Alberta' so looks like it's from the Provincial Government, but no-one there if I pick up and never leaves a message.
