I rec'd two calls today and an email. All fraud, I did contact Macy's costumer protection from a customer service agent to whom I told my story to. Someone tired to charge over 1,0000 for a gift card and get this lip balm. Even a note saying Happy Birthday son love your dad. I ended up cancelling my card , even though no charges where made. I hope the madness stops soon!!
They're now using phone numbers that look like fax machine numbers. Rec'd 2 calls and an email saying a placed an order on line which I didn't they ask for my last 4 of my s.s . Beware!
I just got off the phone with the REAL Macys. This number is 100% FAKE. Do not pick up or give these people any kind of information. This is a very believable scam and horrifying that there isn't more public record of this number being fake.
I've gotten 2 calls this week from the same lady leaving a voicemail both times about a maceys online order. I called back the second time. The same lady answered with the middle eastern accent. I gave her the order number she left me on my voicemail. She wanted my name so I told her. She said that's not the name we have listed. I told her no one else uses my phone number for anything. I asked her what name do you have what is in the order? She said I can't give you that information its confidential. (She did leave the person's name in the voicemail but can't make out what she said.) I told her I never bought from maceys in my lifetime. She said maybe a relative bought u something and left your number. That was the end of our conversation. It seems like they are just trying to get as much personal info from you as they can to possibly steal your identity. I don't know. Don't give your info out!
I have gotten 12 of these from this number since December 14th. It's crazy!!I have put it on my blocked number list, so I don't see it unless they leave a voice mail which they have twice. Once for an order from Bloomingdales and once with the same as what you have gotten.
(513) 398-5221Unfortunately, no message was left (I was outside shoveling snow), but I did trace the telephone number.Well, like the others had previously stated, this call did in fact originate from Macy's Customer Service. The call was only to verify that I had actually placed an online order last night, as it's been quite a while since I had purchased something from Macy's.I told the Macy's customer service assistant that I really appreciated the fact that they (Macy's) had taken the time, as well as the initiative, to call me just to verify my purchase, as I too have been the victim of ID theft (not at Macy's) throughout the years. It's nice to know that there are still proactive companies out there...cheers.
This phone number called stating they were from Macy's, wanting information about an order I just placed.
This number is legit! 513-398-5221 really is Macy's fraud prevention department. They were verifying that a purchase I made online of a gift card to be sent to a relative in another state - and, yes, it's legitimate. There were several steps in the verification process. I'm really, really glad they're doing this! **I did chide the woman about them not having Caller ID enabled!** The only reason I answered the call this time is because I was online when they called and was able to look up the number immediately and found out that it was Macy's.
Macy's left a msg on mine and my wife's phone. We called back and found out that someone tried to fraudulently charge $355 on our card. They were just calling us to alert us to the fact it had happened and that they had stopped all charges.
