Placed an order online at Macy's and I received a lot of calls from this number. I finally decided to call back and it was just to confirm the online order. It's a legit number, if you ordered anything from them.
It is Macy's fraud department. I contacted by credit card companies before I responded. Sure enough there was a HUGE charge to Macys.com this morning that I never made. They canceled the order and account. They told me to call the number back and tell them the card was no longer valid. I just hit redial and the number was directly to Macy's fraud department. Macy's said that the order was on hold because it seemed irregular. They only asked for the reference number and name. Nothing else. They canceled the order on their end.
They called twice after I hung up the first time. Based on comments from this site I blocked this IP number
Got a call from this number but it was hard to understand the message and spoke of a reservation giving a reservation number to reference. They set a specific time for me to call back to an 800 number. They had my name but I don't have a Macy's account and have not ordered anything.
Got a call from this number. It really is Macy's they were calling from their fraud prevention department to verify an online purchase. Iti turned out that it was a fraud. If they call, it is for your own protection. It turns out that my credit card company had already caught the attempted fraud.
How weird, I also received a call from 513-398-5221. I had actually missed the call but noticed that a VM was left from that number. I listened to the message and I immediately took this call as a scam. The person who left the voice message seemed to be having tough time following her call script that she was attempting to follow, so I became very suspect of the call being a legitimate call. I had recently purchased a gift card from Macy's the night before, online. The call from 513-398-5221 was instructing me to return the call to 866 282 8977 to verify gift card purchase. I was NOT going to return the call as instructed due to the fact that the voice message from "Macy's" sounded suspicious. I ended up going to Macy's.com and located the Macy's customer service phone number. I called customer service, and my call was forwarded to Macy's fraud protection. I was walked through an automated process that asked if I had received a call to verify my purchase. II was then asked if I had been given a reference number from the caller at 513-398-5221, and if so....to enter the reference number. At this point, my order was confirmed. I was still suspicious of this whole process so I went back on Macy's.com and completed an online order confirmation by imputing the reference number I had gotten from the questionable call, and to my surprise.....the order confirmation popped up.
I received two calls from this number and they requested my social security number, my driver's license number and a copy of my utility bill to be faxed to 1-800-357-8300 which I DID NOT DO. I will NOT fax my social security number or anything else to an unknown person. They refused to tell me what it was about so I called another Macy's number and they told me it's a scam. They cancelled my card and will issue me a new one. My account with Macy's is up to date with no balance and I haven't used my card since April 2016. It appears someone had made an order of over $100 and it wasn't me.
I recieved a call from this number and I'm not happy about it. First of all, a company as large at Macy's, my caller ID should say "Macys". I'm not profiling but the accent sounds like it's not someone calling from my country, USA. I shop online all the time. I mean, ALL THE TIME. If I order from Amazon, Jet.com, Wayfair, Ebay, Etsy......... they don't call me back to varify. Thats what secure shopping is for. Shopping online should be a covienience, not a hassle. I will be flipping mad if the items I ordered don't arrive.
Got a call from them but did not answer since I do not answer calls where the caller refuses to identify themselves. If the call is from Macys and it is legit then they should allow Macys to be displayed on my Caller ID.
