I recently ordered an E-gift card from Macys. The caller stated he was a customer service rep from Macy's and was asking if I had placed the order (He knew my name and that I made the order before I said anything). He wanted me to confirm the email of the recipient. He stated they were calling to prevent fraudulent purchases. He had a foreign accent (India perhaps) and I asked "how do I know you are from Macys?"He said I didn't have to disclose any info and that they are just working to prevent fraud and theft so I went ahead and gave him the info he needed after I googled the number and figured it was from Macy's. He stated my order would be processed without issues.
I just got a call from this number today, and it was Macys.com someone got a hold of my card info somehow. Subsequently i received a call from my bank's fraud dept. !!! phew...luckily it was caught in time. I believe its really Macy's, and they said they would stop the charge from going thru. I also spoke to my bank. Hopefully this doesn't keep happening to people...
I placed an order online at Bloomingdale's (owned by Macy's) and got a call regarding my order a few minutes after I placed it from this number. So it appears that occasionally this number is used to make real calls regarding orders placed.
This is a scam, say they are from Macy's but I do not have an account. check your email too they may send fraud alerts and when you click on it it will load virus don't open move to spam
I received two calls from 513 398 5221 from Macy's in Ohio. I ALMOST didn't call back as I knew I didn't have a Macy's card. After reading this thread I decided I'd better... all the while being really careful not to give out any additional information. It was a valid call, and they had caught that someone had placed a fraudulent order for children's clothing on a bank VISA card I had. They canceled the order but advised me that I'd better hang up and call my bank IMMEDIATELY to close this account. I firmly believe that when I visited rentalleaseagreement.org to get help with a rental agreement that my information was stolen.
This was a legit call. Someone charged gift card on my account and they were alerting me to possible fraud. I never would have caught it in time and it was for an e-card...not today MARGARET25r@ATTmail.com
This just happen to me a few minutes ago. A lady called me and asked to verify my Macy's online order. I told her she had the wrong number because I didn't order anything online. She continued to argue with me and said she needed to verify my Visa card number. I told her she was a scammer and I was calling the police!
I don't have a Macy's card ; i was called to see if I had purchased a $300.00 gift card from them and put it on a Visa card.......I told them that I had not- they gave me the last four digits of the card and I told them I would call them back. When I called back, their records showed that they did not call my phone number and had no record of calling me. I told them that they called me twice! now what do I do??
