On Sunday the 29th of January we had a message on our phone from this number, which shows on our phone that is from Tucson, AZ. The message stated that we were to call the US Census Bureau and gave us a 1-888-410-7856 number to call with a key code of 59441 along with a word so garbled we couldn't understand it. My husband felt by law he was required to return the call. About 2 months ago he was sent a letter that a survey would follow and under penalty of law he had to fill it out. The survey arrived about a month ago and he did fill it out and sent it back in their prepaid envelope. He thought this call was relative to that survey. He attempted to call the 1-888 number but kept getting a confusing amount of different numbers and voice responses. Finally he was directed to a 1-900-446-2900 number also telling him it would cost him $1.90 plus cents to call. He still felt he needed to call the number and did but was running into interference. So I said let me try for you and I dialed the 1-900 number and got an immediate recorded message saying, "would you like to win $100, or get coupons to Walmart etc." I listened no more and immediately hung up. At that point I said I think we are being scamed somehow here, don't call anymore. I checked the Census Bureau for our location and we are under Denver Census Agency, not Tucson. In fact I didn't even think to look where the call orginated from until I just found this site. I will be blocking it today. So the number they called from wasn't even the number they told us to call. If the Census Bureau is trying to get ahold of us, they can mail us. I kept a copy of the email I sent to them regarding these numbers and I will have all the numbers blocked plus I blocked 1-900 as well hoping that stops all 1-900 numbers from coming in. I feel this is not legitimate and will stand by that till I see a request in the mail to tell me otherwise. Thanks for sharing, hope our experience is helping others. And one other note, a friend reminded me that I hadn't thought about... The US Census Bureau doesn't work on Sundays!

They have been calling my mother every evening starting at around 8pm. She doesn't answer but since I stop by every night, I answer the call/s. I don't know if they'll call back after tonight though LOL! I decided to have some fun with them tonight since ignoring or hanging up on them as done previously wasn't working.1st call @ 7:53p (ring... ring...):Me: Hello?Caller: Have I reached 718 *** ****?Me: NoCaller: What number did I reach?Me: 718 495 7793 (the # for the local elementary school LOL) and CLICKLMAO!2nd call @ 7:56P (ring... ring...):Me: City Morgue! You kill 'em we chill 'em!Caller: ClickLMFAO!!3rd call @ 7:58P (ring... ring...):Me: (take the phone to the bathroom and lower the phone into the bowl) FLUSH!Caller: ClickROTFLMFAO!No more calls for the evening and hopefully for good. People, this is a scam. Don't fall for it.

I received a surve from the census bureau. (allegedly) I answered all the question that I felt I could answer without compromising my identity. We keep getting phone calls from the same women tell me that I did not answer some of the questions. I told here to send it back and I will see what need to be done.I called the number that registered on my phone within 30 minutes, and the phone number is no longer in service. 520 798 4152 sometimes another number.It seems like whoever is calling is missing some info to complete and execute their scam.I've told them not to call back but they keep calling.

The US Census Bureau does most of the surveys you see listed in news stories, Crime, Health, CPI and schools, to name a few. To save the taxpayers money it is done from their homes. They also use representatives in other areas to make the calls when they are not getting a response. Go to Census.gov and look at surveys that are done. DO NOT RESPOND TO ANYONE CLAIMING TO BE FROM THE CENSUS BUREAU IF THEY ARE FOR YOU SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER OR BANK INFORMATION THIS IS BOGUS.

....I love you.THAT is how you deal with these calls! Kudos!! Another idea is a whistle, or to scream bloody murder into the phone. Almost makes you WANT them to call back so you can screw them some more, hehe.

I am getting calls from the following numbers, all showing on Caller ID as US census bureau: (417) 429-0110, (520) 798-4152, (812) 218-3144 and (240) 420-6029. Have NOT answered any of the calls. Have received 3 packets from them American Community Survey - these detailed and INTRUSIVE questionnaires are B*%$S&$@! I REFUSE to answer such invasive questions.The calls come twice and sometimes 3 times a day. HELLO, US Government, QUIT WASTING TAX PAYERS DOLLARS on this crap! WE THE PEOPLE refuse to give you OUR personal info so that YOU can share it with CORPORATIONS! (As stated in your packets!) You already are in cahoots with the corporations in a WAR against WE THE PEOPLE!Or BETTER YET< HIRE US CITIZENS that speak PERFECT ENGLISH!

I am getting calls from this number. The Census Bureau DOES not have my cell number and are calling me on it. If it was NOT a scam they would be calling me on my listed home phone.

I told this lady with the heavy accent I have filled out my form and everything is correct and nothing changed. I told her 3 times to not call me anymore, but she stated they will continue to call me every day and she hung up on me. has scam wrote all over it in my opinion.

Who cares - the "census" has been over for 2 yrs and isn't due for another 8 yrs. They got the number of people in the household and that is all they are entitled to, period. They are in my block list now.
