I GOT TOLD IT WAS MANDITORY AND I WOULD BE IN TROUBLE IF I DID NOT SUPPLY THEM THE INFO UNDER SECTION>> SUCH AND SUCH>> I TOLD THEM TO COME AND GET ME FOR NOT TELLING THEM INFO OVER THE PHONE>> IT WAS A THREAT AND NOT WELL RECIEVED
They called over and over again asking for one of our employees by name, but the employee they were asking for had never heard of them.
I have gotten call after call from the Census Bureau, this number and others. I answered the very first, which came on my cell phone. I DID NOT PROVIDE MY CELL PHONE NUMBER WHEN I FILLED OUT THE CENSUS QUESTIONNAIRE IN 2010. I am located in Alabama (205) area code and he gave me an address in Spokane, Washington. Told him it wasn't my address, but when he asked for my address, told him no. He wanted to give me a number to call them, but I was driving at the time. A lot of these posts show this experience - they have a number but wrong address. That leads me to wonder what's going on. And again, the number they called me on was my cell phone, which I never give out except to family, friends, etc. I have now received 4 calls from the Census Bureau, all four from different numbers. I blocked the first two, but I cannot get away from them. Maybe when they call next time, I'll take the call, lie to them, and get on with my life!!! If they want true information, they need to be up front about what's going on . . . calling on a number they weren't provided AND having the wrong address . . . that doesn't make for getting off on the right foot, legitimate survey or not!
This number keeps calling as well as the 812-2118-3144 and240-420-6029. I want them to quit calling as we did the newer census survey conducted (the one which was mailed to home and we mailed it back). The caller first stated name then asked if I was the person at the home and the correct number and if the address was what he was reading. I felt it was not wise to go further and I mentioned to the caller that we had already sent it a survey that was conducted last year. The caller stated that this was a different census that was being taken and also said that a 28 page packet was mail twice to this address and was not returned. I mentioned that we did not receive such a packet one or two times and to please mail another and we would return it. The caller stated that this could not be done due to the cost of mailings and that the survey had done. I said I didn't not want to do this over the phone and hung up. Why are surveys(such as the phone survey) done in the first place because it seems they already know who and where we are, and what we are doing, Another question is when clicking on the "Block this number from your phone" appears, why does a block asking for your CELL NUMBER instead of home phone appear, this automatically stops me from going any further, as then not only do unwanted callers have your home phone, now they have cell.
Your employee had never heard of the U.S. Census Bureau ?? How can anyone living in America not know what the U.S. Census is ??A question to you- Was that person's name and phone number listed on an IRS form 941 for quarterly employment tax because the Census was calling that number for their survey?
i had the same thing happend to me and it is a United States Census Bureau phone number. Out of Tucson Az.
I sent their invasive form to my congressman, and told him to get the funding for this invasive form stopped. It is an attempt at total Id theft. Who is to say whether or not the few people on here that seem to support this are not part of the scam. The Census people have no business asking specific info on how much money I made or when I leave the house. I have had a heart attack already and if I have another I will sue them for all the stress they are causing with their calls.
Got this call a few days ago. Asked why I should believe she was from the Census Bureau. She said she would give me a toll free number to call. I said, "Nah, just call me back and I'll say Im the Census Bureau and you can pretend to be me. Then you will have to fill me in on the scam so that I will know how to fool you into giving me your address, ss#, credit cards."
LSA2 DOC BOC 99 calls my place of work sometimes twice a day. It is very irritating. I delete these phone calls and definitely will not call them back but it is harassment if you ask me...
Read all of your posts tonight, but still had the form at home. Between the Census Bureau 800 number, the form received in the mail, and reading all the on-line information and explanations, I agree that this is the Census Bureau. You are required by law to fill out the form or answer the questions over the phone. After so many tries, they will show up at your home and ask to do this in person. Go to the Census Bureau web page at www.census.gov and read about the American Community Survey. This is where we get our federal tax dollars...............The form number for the guide to this survey is ACS-30(2011). This is legitimate.
