If people would read earlier messages about this number, many complaints would be unnecessary. I got several calls this morning and I found from reading 800notes.com messages that when Nomorobo suspects a call to be from a robocaller it will ask the caller to enter a number that is randomly selected. If that number is correctly entered, Nomorobo will divert the call to 608-371-6666, which may show as Janesville, WI, on caller ID. The call may or may not be spam. It means ONLY that a human is making the call and Nomorobo does not have enough information to justify blocking it. Answer at your own risk. I never answer a call from a number that is not in my phone directory. If a call is important, the caller will leave a voice message.
Just some odd noises, like someone leaning back in a desk chair that needs oil. But unfamiliar to me and now blocked.
I just read one entry from an earlier date that helps clear up the confusion I expressed above. ( Greg 4 Jun 2014 - This is the nomorobo.com call in number to report a telemarketer. i am a nomorobo member.ex: You can also report these robocallers by calling or texting the number to (608) 371-6666.Since NoMoRobo does not call out, it is Not them. The number is being used by scammers to scam you. Just ignore it. If you have nomorobo like I do, it only rings once.)I had no number to give to this number when I called back, so I simply hung up. It did not make sense that NMR would block itself.MAJOR OBSERVATION: I'm sure some — maybe many — will be confused and cancel NMR, which is what the scammers would LOVE. Given how much peace and quiet it has given me, I wouldn't jump to such a pointless conclusion, but the world is made up of all kinds.
Sooooooooooo after all that, NOMOROBO doesn't work! Some guy who came up with it walks off with $50k for something that obviously has a quick work-around. Great. At 6:31 pm a call rang through once from 610-777-3715 with the name INT CMMNCTNS RS then 10 secons later this number came up with UNKOWN as call name and rang through to the answering machine. No message was left except for that lovely dial tone noise. Interestingly I have asked both verizon and my phone to block UNKNOWN calls too. I want to know who is answering their phone and giving them their credit card number to make it so worthwhile for them to continue to do this. They have to be making money off just the phone calls somehow because there aren't that many stupid people out there to keep all the scammers employed.
Feb 2017, and I guess they are trying the same scam as back in 2014 judging from previous comments. Double call like others have noted. The initial call was blocked by NOMOROBO but then another immediate call from 608-371-6666 that made it through the screening. Rang through to answering machine, but no message left.
Black guy saying our home qualifies for an energy program. Knew my last name. Caller ID said it was from Janesville, Wisconsin.
First call from CID of Unavailable.10 seconds later from CID of +160837166661 minute later from CID of Janesville WI. (same number)All were nailed by NOMO
They first called from (714) 463-6159, but were blocked by NOMOROBO. 5 seconds later they called from (608) 371-6666which is the NOMOROBO reporting number that they have spoofed. The guy identified his business as Builders Construction Company.
Got my call today.BTW, they don't hold the record. There is another number that I do not remember off-hand but the last time I ran across it (probably 2 months ago) if had over 35 pages.
