Guess this is the mystery number. Had a few experiences this year with this number calling right after some scam charities, not sure if NOMOROBO blocked it. Today this number called and seemed to be blocked by NOMOROBO because it rang just once. Immediately after got a call from 407-903-6100, CID was Marriott Vacations. They left a message that sounded straight, was offering a vacation. Not sure how this works.
This is the nomorobo.com call in number to report a telemarketer. i am a nomorobo member.ex: You can also report these robocallers by calling or texting the number to (608) 371-6666.Since NoMoRobo does not call out, it is Not them. The number is being used by scammers to scam you. Just ignore it. If you have nomorobo like I do, it only rings once.
First, I did apply for a Capital One Credit Card. Also I do have a 7 year fraud alert on my credit files. I also use NOMOROBO. The first caller id shows "Capital One" and 800-289-7054 immediately followed by 608-371-6666. The answering machine message came from the 6666 number. The message asked me to call 855-968-3131 and gave me a 14 digit reference number. I was not home. I also received a call from 800-289-7054 on my cell, two minutes after the call to my home phone. I answered the cell call because I was expecting a call from Capital One due to the fraud alert. They asked me to verify my address, DOB and last 4 of SSN. That was all. I am sure it was a legitimate call. I have credit monitoring in place in addition to the fraud alert. Nothing about this call appeared to be phishing.
Four calls, message left states in reference to a former neighbor. When I called back I got "Thank you for calling NOMOROBO! Live person left message and messages varied. Last message state 0- by the live person, who also left his name, stated the call was being recorded. YaY. How very odd.
This was a fund raising call claiming to be from George Mason University in Northern Virginia.First call was "Annual Fund…" on caller ID. It quickly rolled over to this number when call blocker kicked in.
First called from Orange Extermination 714-288-9020. This number was blocked. Then called back within a minute with no caller id. That number listed as 608-371-6666, Called said she was from Orange Extermination. And offered a free termite inspection
Received a call from 608-371-6666. As others have reported, I received a call which appeared to be blocked by Nomorobo, as my phone lit up with an incoming call, but then it immediately dropped, which is normal behavior for Nomorobo. Nomorobo is so quick with the block that numbers they catch don't even register on my caller id, so I can't even say what number was originally blocked. Then, within a couple of seconds the call identifying itself as 608-371-6666 came through and rang 6 times before ending. I didn't answer it and no message was left. Some commenters above have speculated that this is a passthrough of some kind from Nomorobo. I have never seen any documentation that Nomorobo does this. It doesn't make sense to me that Nomorobo would pass through a call that it intercepted. It also doesn't make sense that they would use the number that is used to report numbers to them. It seems more likely to me that scammers who detect that their calls are dropped are immediately redialing using this number. This is the first time I've seen this behavior.
I can tell you for certain 608-371-6666 was a call from Service Champions technician (air conditioning service.)Seems this tech uses his cellphone and has not changed his number since coming to California from anotherstate.
Some dingbat calling from an Allstate Insurance Agent. Told her damn quick to remove my number and to never call back. So with everyone's comments, it sounds like it is a number that is used for telemarketing on behalf of several companies.
As others reported, our spam blocker stopped the first ring allowing prompting caller to switch to another number (608-371-6666), supposedly from Janesville, WI. The caller claimed to be from "the famous Gallup Poll" and wanted to speak to the person in the household having the next birthday because blah, blah, blah. I smelled a rat and, as usual, refused to give out or even confirm any information and told them not to call back. The caller was polite enough but, as I suspected, a con artist.
