i pressed 1, waited for a representative, asked for her name, sd was Melissa, refused to give me company contact information and as soon as i told her I was on the do not call list, she hung up on me. I guess the do not call list means JACK!
This is not my idea so I cannot take credit for it. That being said I have used this method to reduce my frusteration with these calls. Add the number to your phone contacts and then set the ringer for that contact to silent. Voila! no more ringing.
OK this 617 number has been calling my work cell every other day for months now. Usually right around the same time of day. I've tried pressing "1" and asking them to stop and got the traditional hang up. LOL. Well, two can play that game. One time they called, I pressed "1" and when someone answered... "EAT IT!!!" THEN HANG UP. LOL. I know it solves nothing. Makes me feel better. Another time they called, pressed "1" again. As soon as someone got on the phone... "OH WAIT JUST A MINUTE, LET ME GO GET MY WALLET". Waited a minute or two, then picked up the phone "UHHH, HOW DOES MY [***] TASTE???" THEN HANG UP. LMAO. Again, I know this accomplished nothing, but it gives me a smile. :-)Then I went and got adventerous and called the number back. Yeah it took a few tries to get through the the mailbox full message. Hit 5 like someone suggested to leave a call back number. HEHEHEHEHEHEHE. This number is being sent to someone's pager. WOW, they still make those?? Let's have some fun. So now, whenever I get one of these calls, first I press "1" to get to someone and make sure I am the hang up on them. Then I call the number back. WHAT?? We got disconnected. There is nothing wrong with me calling back is there?? hehehehehehehee. I'm leaving all sorts of call back numbers for this pager. 1234567890, 9876543210, 2125551212, 2025551212, etc. You get the point. I'm paging the hell outta somebody. Or maybe not. I don't know. I don't care. But everytime I get a call from them, they get several calls from me. Somebody is paying for that pager service. Maybe I can clog up their lines a little bit. Maybe they hate hearing their pager go off the same way we hate hearing our phones ring with this nonsense. Because in the end, this is all nonsense. Nobody is going to do anything. It's not going to stop. So, give 'em hell in return. That's what I do. And I'm not mad anymore. I actually look forward to the calls now. The satisfaction of hanging up first is WONDERFUL. Try it, you'll see. :-)
I as getting these calls on both my home and cell. For my cell I downloaded Mr Number -- this is a great free app that detects spam and will prevent the call from going through. I also turned on block caller ID and anonomous call rejection on my landline. My problem is pretty much solved except for the occasional call that gets through. I agree -- these folks are criminals trying to get your data.
617-390-4562 is one of 2 numbers that has been calling me non-stop with an automated message - telemarketing. They even called at 3am !!Haven't been able to find a way to stop it, tried calling them back, reported on "do-not-call.gov", even tried blocking the number. It's crazy annoying.
i consistently get these calls. have tried to opt out, have tried to call back, etc. with no success
These yayhoos (aka CROOKS) have been calling me for 2 years now. The DO NOT CALL list is fruitless (Come on! its the Gov't), The FTC, FCC, FBI, CIA and countless Attorney Generals have been told about these CROOKS (Come on! its the GOV'T!!). So what to do...about these jerks...one guy even traced the owner of this scam who lives in FLA but it appears they may be from offshore. The numbers you see as the source aren't even real. WE as pissed off Americans must work together here....if you are of Italian decent...and you KNOW somebody to handle these things...GO for it!! I've read several people try to distract them so they can't call others...but they have you on their computer so once they see the notes on other calls they just hang up.Can you imagine the application to work for these CROOKS....Are you an A-HOLE?...yes...you got the job! Welcome aboard!!!Since you are now on their list because you punched a number (me too)...I like this idea till we collectively figure out how to end this...buy a whistle, horn or any ear piercing device...hit 1 on ur phone..wait for them to pickup and BLAST AWAY!! It won't stop them BUT just maybe if enough of us do it at least the crooks may have hearing issues pretty damn quick...who knows..they might even remove those numbers from their list...worth a try I say....Americans UNITE! WE CAN OVERCOME!!!!Ps: I read alot of your comments and we need to get the word to others to stop them....with the use of a $5 air horn one guy reduced his calls to once a month! Imagine if we ALL do it!!KEEP RE-POSTING THIS INFO SO OTHERS WILL GET ON BOARD...FIGHT BACK
BTW, In respose to Mr. James Bond's post... "AWESOME DUDE!!!!!". Glad I'm not the only one to fight fire with fire. hahahahahahahaha
Scam artist saying they can lower your interest rates. I pressed 1 to speak to a "rep" and when they came on the line I informed them that technically they are breaking the law being I am registered on the National Do Not Call registry. The "rep" got an attitude and asked "Well how am I suppose to know that?!" I told them that I don't even own a credit card (I do, but decided that these SOB's don't need to know this) then asked for the company's information (name, contact number, etc) and they hung up on me.
