I've been getting daily calls from this number. Sometimes they leave a VM and other times they don't. All voicemails (as transcribed by google) have been the following:"Hello, this is Heidi calling with American Express. I was just returning your call, and if you could return return my call when you have a chance and we just wanted to discuss our invitation for your business with setting up a business account. My number is (888) 309-4207. And, again, it's Heidi, with American Express. Thank you. Bye bye. "The interesting part is I don't know Heidi and I've never called her, so I'm not sure how she's claiming that she is "returning my call."Sounds fishy
Name-calling will not convince people of the legitimacy of your post. And considering how easily phone numbers can be spoofed, calling a number that leaves little or no information regarding something as sensitive as my credit card is just plain reckless. When in doubt, call the number on the back of your card. You KNOW that number belongs to AmEx.
This is not a SCAM. It actually is the American Express Claims department. I received a call from this unknown number so I looked it up on google and the voice mail left was asking for additional info on a claim I currently have opened with Amex for extended warranty protection.
We set up a new account with Jim that called from this number. After we gave him our information we read this post and called Amex at 800-528-4800 they verified this call was legitimate.
I work for a small business and were considering options in opening up extra business credit lines. Not sure how our office got in contact with American Express about this idea but after a few email exchanges without any real information they finally sent us an excel sheet that we were to fill out individuals personal information. The excel sheet looked extremely sketchy and we decided from that point that we would not speak with these people any longer. It's been about 4 days and they call daily, never leaving a voicemail and always mention that the call is being recorded, he called himself Fernando. OH! Yesterday I received two phone calls from them where no one actually spoke directly into the phone but it was like they were having a conversation and had accidentally dialed our office. I should have known better and listened to what was really being said. But they called one more time after the two "butt dials" and finally spoke to me to which I told them the person they were looking for was not available. Here is some info from our email correspondence with these scammers. I deleted my coworkers names for our privacy. Here is also Fernando's whole name.Fernando Sustaita JRFrom: Jacques E Bailey [mailto:Jacques.E.Bailey@aexp.com]Sent: Wednesday, February 11, 2015 4:17 AMTo: ----Subject: American ExpressGood Morning ---,It was a pleasure speaking with you yesterday! Nicole,Did you ever call the telephone numbers provided or call American Express and ask for this person? Good luck in your search for a reputable and trustworthy company to help with your financial needs. And no I do not work for them. But they are a legit company.
Jerry Pinkerton called and he was making a payment to our company and wanted to ask me a question.
Got a call from this number - call back number to 'Katherine' was 623-492-3436. A guy answered, I asked for Katherine. He connected me and she asked me what my name was - I said she called me, she should know it. She asked what number was called, gave her my cell number. She said she just left a message for 'Matt. I told her I have had this number for many years, no 'Matt' was associated with the number. She replied that she was looking to make an offer their 'platinum' customers who accept AmEx CC. That's when I stopped her, said that I was a cardholder, not a merchant and hung up. I am reporting this to AmEx as well.
Got a call from Claudia at American Express - asked for me to return her call to 855-431-6567. The caller ID said the call was from 623-492-4000, but the description was from 602-537-9012. She never left a message for "me," just that I return her call. Never mentioned my name. The first red flag that this was a scam. This forum confirms it.
