Was called from 623-492-4000 on 5/6/13 at 2:02 PM Arizona time. Caller identified himself as Josh with American Express. He wanted to see if he could save me money and asked if I wanted to apply for the American Express card and earn rewards. He said there were many incentives. It sounded very convincing and I gave him my personal information. After thinking about it I called the # back and the recording did claim to be American Express. But when I called American Express from their website they said they had not placed the original call.

I was called by this number today with a man saying that he was from American Express and wanted information. I didn't tell him anything and I called American Express. Turns out it's a scam. If anyone calls you and you have to give any personal info out - numbers, name, etc - don't.

I also received a call from 623-492-4000. He had information on my account and I hesitantly gave unrelated info. After feeling uneasy and calling the main Amex number from a different phone, I was able to confirm the caller does in fact work for Amex in the "Account Developer" department. However, you should still not give numbers or passwords to anyone who calls you.

I also just received a phone call from who ever this is doing this. Again a, male voice with the typical "beeping sound" in the back ground that you hear from the recording calls. My call came from (caller ID # 602-537-9012 but showed up as spoof called from 623-492-4000. I immediately called Amex and confirmed that this was NOT them calling. They confirmed that they log EVERY CALL to EVERY customer in the profile on the system. So this is definitely a scam. Be AWARE!!!

I received a call from 623-492-4000. It is American Express. They were verifying an amount I had charged. I appreciated the call since it was a larger amount than normal. However, it would have been prudent to have their name listed for Caller ID. I did not answer, but returned the call. They explained the call before I verified any info.

This really is Amex. They called and left a message telling me that they offer reimbursement for postage since I sent something back for their return protection program.

I received two calls in a row from this number, no message.

This is an American Express number. I had just gotten off of the phone with AmEx re our merchant account and received a prompt call back from them with agreement to waive a fee I was concerned about (It was the same person I was talking to when I call the AMEX number directly). This is a legit number from AmEx. Cheers ~ Steve

Received multiple calls and they finally left a voice mail saying I had fraudulent charges and to call them back.When I called American Express, they confirmed I had no charges and this number I told them called me - they confirmed was not an American Express number and warned that it was a scam.

I saw someone calling from this number three times in a row, so I searched online to see who it was before calling them back. They are in fact American Express, but they may be from the merchant side vs the cardholder side as I had called them regarding our merchant account a few days ago.
