I couldn't agree more...."NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR SSN", or any personal information for that matter through Email or Phone. This is a sure fire way to have your identity stolen, especially a company that is based off shore. I recently received a similar email and as soon as I saw the request for my SSN I deleted it. My field is in Cyber Security and this just screamed fraud.
"Mitch Giri" just called me about a temporary position that paid $9/he. Has a very strong Indian accent. Said the interview would be over the phone which I thought was strange because the position was with the Dept. of Social Services. Stated he was with Rose International. The position was 6mo term. I googled him immediately and found this so I will be reporting him! No longer will I use Indeed.com
I got a call from the same number- her contact info as follows:Vinod PariharRecruiterRose International, Inc.Phone: (888) 430-7673, ext. 6547636-812-4000, Ext. 6547Fax: (888) 767-3428E-mail: vparihar@roseint.comwww.roseint.comPlease consider the environment before you print this email and/or its attachments. She emails me about a job and later on request my last 4 digit of social and DOB. I smell scam and I decide to ignore her ....
I'm retired so have some free time on my hands. What I try to do is scam the scammers. I do one of two things. First is to pretend I can't hear too well and I'm a little nuts. I answer the phone and listen to their various lies and when they are done I say "I'm sorry I didn't hear what you said can you repeat it please." After doing this 2 or 3 times I then pretend I did not understand a word they said. If they are selling solar panels I tell them “I’m sorry I don't need a new fence." Then I start to say crazy routine and say things like "Did you hear that? I think my wife is listening to my calls again. Just a minute please." I put the phone down, wait a few minutes and then bang a newspaper on the table. I then pick up the phone and say "That's the last time she'll ever do that! Don't tell anyone you heard that shot please". Then I ask them "I'm sorry what were you calling about?" The whole goal here is to waste as much of their time as possible. They usually never call me back. Second I give them all the information they ask for including account numbers, bank, name, address, ss#, etc. The only problem is I make up all the information (keep a note next to the phone with the phony info). I can almost hear the cash register in their tiny little brains ringing up sales!!! I try to keep them on the line as long as possible by asking a lot of silly questions and then say "I'm sorry I think I gave you the wrong account number. Can you read that back to me?" I then say "No this is the correct number" and then give them another number and ask them to read it back again. I do this several times. I then go into my crazy routine. Sometimes I'll tell them I have to go out to the car to get my information and ask them to wait. One time I actually made myself a sandwich and a drink, went out and got the mail and came back (must have been 10 minutes) and the idiot was still on the phone. The whole idea is make them waste their time so get creative people!!! You may have as much fun as I do thinking up things to do.
Got a call from this number but didn't answer. There was a voicemail message I could not understand - the guy had a heavy accent, but the problem was that he had his mic too close to his mouth so all I heard was hissing and popping. I think I heard Rose International, but I'm not sure. I recently started a new job so I know my resume is floating around the ether on lots of job boards. I get these sorts of things as emails too. THIS IS A PHISHING EXPEDITION! If you check the website of the company they're supposedly representing, you probably won't find a posting for the job they're referencing. Don't respond in any way!
This is Rose International. They use a lot of numbers and this is one of them. They are an employment company. They call people who have resumes posted on CareerBuilder, Monster, etc. They are legitimate, but most of the recruiters that call have foreign accents so heavy that you can't understand them (although there are a few that have English as first language).
It's not illegal to ask anyone for a social security number at anytime. Your dad needs to read up on his law facts before passing bad info on to his kids. Now, if you give your social to someone before you know anything about them is just stupid, but not unlawful...moron
