I just received a call from this number (646-612-3456) and the guy wanted to speak with my husband (he asked for him by name). I asked the guy "what do you want" and he said "it's about his computer". I told the guy "WE DO NOT HAVE ANY COMPUTERS HERE!” (We do but I knew about this scam already.). The guy hung up on me.
Foreign caller speaking of computer virus software update from Microsoft. Told them I have no computer and hung up. Blocked the caller. SCAMMERS!!!!!!
Got the call. Caller id was the phone number. Since I didn't recognize the number, I hit the big red call 'block now' button on my call blocker. Checked 800 Notes to verify scammers and left the number blocked. Rarely do I have to unblock a number even though I have a trigger finger when it comes to suspected scammers.
LOL I just got a call from these scammers and decided to have some fun and waste their time. I pretended to be at my computer and was typing in everything they told me. After 5 minutes or so I told them it wasn't doing what they want. She started repeating the instructions from the beginning. After a minute or so I stopped her and said "Hey wait. Does it matter that my computer is an Apple ?". What fun :) She tried to tell me the instructions for them to 'hack' an Apple.I stopped her and said "Listen carefully. I had one of the first 4 IBM PC's. I know more about PC's than you and everyone you know PUT TOGETHER! What do you have to say about that ?" She paused then asked me if I could hold. She put me on hold and it hung up after 5 seconds. Haha, I WIN. I set up my phone to forward all future calls to12146664321 If you can forward individual numbers this is where to send them to. It's a computer that does nothing but waste their time. Some nice guy set it up just to do this. Go ahead and call it and pretend to be a scammer so you can see how it works. I believe there is same AI involved. Once it starts repeating you'll know it;s not a real person.
The do not call list is useless. It only stops LEGITIMATE company's. Who by the way if a legit company calls all you got to do is lie and say your on the list and they stop calling. So, putting yourself on this so called gov list just puts your number out there.
Just got the call but I didn't answer 646 612-3456. Doesn't everyone see the numbers 1 2 3 4 5 6 in the phone number? It's a scam. Don't answer, don't talk with them, it only tells them they have a good number to keep calling. Call can be from anywhere in the world because caller id is spoofed. Call Microsoft for help and see if they do anything for free. I used to feel sorry for people who were scammed by these crooks, but no more. It is because people answer these calls, try to reason with these crooks, plead to be taken off their call list or try to call the number back, that these calls keep coming. If you want to talk with these crooks then you deserve to be scammed. If you want it to stop, contact your representative in Congress and tell them to put pressure on phone companies to make it stop.
