Got this on my cell phone tonight. Woman asked if this was xxx-xxx-xxxx phone number. I said no this was such and such help center. Asked who they wished to speak to and they hung up.
I just received a from this number as well. A man with a thick Indian accent identifying himself as "Jerry" from a Pet Search company. He said they'd seen my craigslist posting in Lost & Found for my dog. I asked again who it was, got the same answer. He spoke in such a monotone, paced voice that I really wondered if it wasn't a computer voice prompting me for answers. It did not feel right and so I hung up. I'm not sure what he would have asked for, but I can see from other reports it was definitely going to be a scam.
This unintelligible Indian (not the feather variety) or Pakistani told me he was from Windows. I told him I had windows, thank you very much, but he wittered on about a virus on my computer. I told him I was with the Scottish Taliban, so that shut him up. Two minutes later I get a call from New York (347) 618-8930. These people are scam merchants. I invited him to have sex and travel.......over and out!Caller: (661) 748-0240
I received a call from this number on my cell phone. It was an Indian gentleman saying he was from Microsoft and that my computer was infected with every terrible malady known to computers. Being a Mac user, I know it has to be a scam. Besides, are they really calling every computer owner to let them know they have a trojan/virus/whatever? Really? I don't think so. I politely told him off and told him never to call me again.
The version of SAS they sell is cracked and crippled so it will ignore the malware they put on your computer.
We just got a call at 9:40 PM from Robert with an accent saying he was from Microsoft & our computer was infected. It was obvious BS. I re ran our Kaspesky & our compter is fine. Do Not Fall for this!
It is or was 4 am PSDT on Monday, 11/12/2012, Veterans Day. Call woke us up. Followed by 2 calls from 'unknown number'. I hit the hangup button on my cellphone. And now looking here. 18 pages of stuff, here. tl;dr - I got the gist from the first few messages.
