This is a Skype caller ID number. I have a son and other friends and relatives living overseas. They call often using their computer and Skype. The reason is the call is free or minimal fee compared to an overseas phone call. Most of the time the caller ID show up with this number or another starting with the 661 area code. It doesn't matter if the call comes from India, Egypt or Kwait. The same or similar caller ID shows. Unfortunately, scammers also know how to use Skype which will show up with the same ID. Some legit companys also use Skype but the would most likely leave a message.I have to answer this number in case it is my son or a friend. I get scam calls from this number. I just hang up. They don't care if you are on the do not call list because they know they won't be caught by using Skype.

This number calls and states, in Indian accent, that they are calling from the US Dept of Grants and want to give me a grant for $8000+ that I will not need to pay back!!! yeahhhhh right!!!! Obviously pfishing for my personal info!!!! And when I said that I was Santa Claus and asked how they would know if I was lying or not?? They gave me a number to call back "for a clearer connection" and gave me an grant ID#!!! When I called back (not to reveal any info but to collect it), no one answered so I hung up!! I received 2 hang up calls from them immediately and another that an actual person was on the phone!!! I told them, the Govt does not just randomly select people to give a grant to and if they did, why did then not call my friend when she was homeless for 19 months!!!!

I got a call from this number yesterday from my son in Thailand. The call was very clear. He told me he was using Skype. I tried to reach him on that number today and could not connect. I wonder what's up with thi Skype number. I googled the number and this is how I found these posts

This number called and wanyed me to cancel a echeck i had paid the day before to hpcTechs.Then they asked for my debit card number.I hung up on them!Called hpcTechs and was told it was a hacker.

This is an unwanted call. The guy says he's from Microsoft and that I'm supposed to get a rebate for services I ordered and haven't used. However, they won't send check in mail. This isn't the first time these people have tried to scam me. Watch out.

Karen..........did you note my message regarding number in question. Does your family have a skype number that you can call them on? First time this has happened on my end

Just got a call at 1045. Hindu accent. Knew my name, but I hung up. Weird!
