701-509-8703 just called my TMobile cell phone in Seattle, WA twice. Didn't answer due to the comments in this website. Thanks to those people who reported this scam.
Received a call from this number on my cell phone at work; got a robot voice that said "Hello. If you are an HSBC customer please press 1 otherwise hang up the phone." Smelled fishy, so I hung up the phone immediately. The funny thing is that I don't have a credit card, nor do I ever use my cell phone except for personal calls to friends. I'd love to know how they got my number, and why they were focused on HSBC in particular.
Went into voice mail. TOTAL PHISHING SCAM! Message does not even identify itself as a bank but says "your account has been blocked, please press 1 to unblock...." Reported this to my bank ASAP.
The recording said that my debit card was at a freeze with Growth Financial. I don't have anything with this company!
SCAM! DO NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION IF YOU GET THIS CALL!!!! Got a call from 701-509-8703 saying my Washington Mutual debit and credit cards are suspended due to suspicion of fraud. Recording said to press 1 to re-instate account. I pressed one and recording instructed me to input my 16 digit account number. Funny thing is I've never had a WaMu account....
I got a call from this about 3 minutes ago, claiming this was about my credit card which I am too young to have."Press 1 if you need assistance."another recording telling you to "press 1 to enter your credit card number or 2 to leave."A big ol' scam.
I just got the same thing tonight and I did the same as you. I hung up and disregarded it. Kinda funny how my Bank of America debit card got deactivated especially since I do not a Bank of America debit card.
