Just received a call at 7:53am, from this phone number( usually they wait until 8am). The same caller ID (Virginia) and method (hang up without leaving a message) as those reported by others. I have been tracking these types of calls after being harassed by some agency who called from 8am to 9pm everyday, including weekends for three months. I called the Better Business Bureau who directed me to the FCC. They identified the caller (I wasn't aware how to do it before) and told me to file a complaint on-line. They needed A LOT of complaints to even begin to check into it, but didn't think it would help to stop the calls. I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST also. In this particular case, I was told to answer the phone to find out what they wanted. When I did, they asked for some guy and when I asked who was calling was given a strange name by someone with an Indian accent, and when I asked what it concerned, was told it was personal. Then he asked if I was his wife, and I told him NO, and that the number had been reported to the FCC, he immediately hung up. This number, and the others associated with it, have since stopped, but I continue to get these off-the-wall calls at all hours of the day. USE your caller ID before picking up the phone, then check the number.
I'm so glad this wasn't just me! I had like 7 missed calls in a row and blocked numbers calling. It was creepy! Now I feel better that I'm not alone. It said it came from Virginia.
Rcvd a call from this number at 405PM. I didn't answer. They hung up when machine picked up.Caller ID: VIRGINIA
Don't think I need to go back to college! These are scammers and are not afraid of the "DO NOT CALL LIST".Why don't people understand the "DO NOT CALL LIST" only regulates and applies to LEGAL TELEMARKETING COMPANIES. Do you think the criminals calling you and scamming you from ourside the US give a rats [***] about the "DO NOT CALL LIST". My cousin works for the Federal "Do Not Call Registry" and tells me it is the biggest wast of time program the US gov has ever put out there and it was done solely to placate people into thinking the government was trying to do something about the incessant calls we are always receiving trying to sell us something or worse yet trying to scam us out of all we have.800Note has explained this a million times but people just don't read it or just don't understand it because so MANY people come here and their first gripe is I AM ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST! Well folks, I hate to burst your bubble but it's time to wake up and smell the sh*t you were wasting your time even putting your number on it. It is supposedly illegal to contact people for telemarketing via cell phones due to the excessive cost in the past however, does that stop any of them.Better yet, just think......when is the last time you got a call like this from a LEGITIMATE company? Personally, I can't remember. It's all scams and 95% of the time now the caller will have an Indian or African accident and is located in India or Cameroon. Just like they all used to come out of Nigeria now they have moved on to Cameroon. Guess Nigeria got too legally uncomfortable for them and they moved on.Don't have too many options today other than blocking the call but they change their numbers so often that doesn't help for long and even if they didn't and they catch a few there are always five more moving in to take their place. Must be some profit in it or they wouldn't do it. Particularly this Microsoft scam. So many people are afraid of "Hackers" they are more afraid of their computer may have been hacked (they hear about it in the paper and on the news every day) they don't even think and take a chance with these soft spoken, kindly but criminal "helpers" who call to try to head off disaster for them that they allow them full remote access to their computer and sometimes even PAY THEM for ripping them off.A little common sense goes a long way. Microsoft will never cold contact you and ask for remote access to your computer. That kind of help you have to seek out and pay for BEFORE they will help you if they even can as there are so many things going around today. I caught the dropper virus last year and had to back up my data and wipe my computer back to factory settings. My husband is a programmer. It is better to be safe and do it that way if things are too bad.God Bless All,Aylagh
Ha, they said I won a $7000 TX grant...then wanted me to call another number with a confirmation code, said I have to call the treasury department with the code! I asked for everything in writing and they hung up on me! I wasn't born yesterday...
Low life excuse for a human trying to rip you off, do not answer, do not give any information. Block this caller!
These numbers are calling every day. I'm on the no call list but they don't honor it what can be done. I don't answer them
The national do not call list does no good. If you report a number all they do is put it in computer and what good does that do. Like I have said many times I got one place have been calling me for about 4 years and been reported on do not call list at least 100 times, so I got now when that shows up I blow a whistle in phone, but they still call but not as often.
