I'm fed up with all these scam calls. got 8 today. this number at 6:25 this evening and from this number 315-401-0805 on my home phone four times in a 3 hour time frame and 3 times on my cell in the same 3 hour time frame. most all of them are spoof numbers so it it almost imposable to find out who or where they are. Anyone know an easy way to trace lines to there source? We could send the Mafia after them. One thing we can do is send massive complaints to the FCC and to our congress. Simply bombard them with complaints. They might take notice if they are not to busy voting to raise their own salary or passing a law that all fish hooks need to be biodegradable.
I had a pop-up message on my computer this morning saying that my computer was infected and I should call an 855 number immediately. I called and got no answer but about 15 minutes later I got a call back from the 703-272-4699 number saying they represented Norton security and did I have a problem. I was skeptical but I foolishly allowed them to access my computer. They said I had 2700 malware bugs on my computer and finally got to the sales pitch that they had a special program to protect my computer. For $179 for one year or $350 for lifetime. At that point I knew for sure it was a scam and told them I was going to call Norton Support directly. They got upset but I shut down my computer , hung up and called Norton/ Century Link. The man from Norton told me that the call (AGGC Technology) was a scam.
If you didn't have a virus on your computer, you might now. If your antivirus software has not been turned off or disabled, run it. Might be a good idea to try running malwarebytes, or any other similar product. If you kept any financial or personal information on your computer consider calling those companies.
I have hads many calls from that same number, who said they worked for Microsoft and the charge would be $50.00 but I told him what he could do with his advice.
I received 6 calls this morning and was told that they were acting as agents for the IRS - that I was being investigatedand could settle up right now, I told them to send me something in writing and was told they did twice and it came backnot deliverable. I have lived at the same address for over 20 years. I then said I wouldn't do anything without somethingin writing. At that point I was hung up on.
Got a call just now, heavy accent Indian fellow. Said he was from a Windows Service Department. I played along for a bit. Tried to get me to go to a site to download a screensharing/remote control type of program. That's when I told him he was a scammer he called me a Mother F'er. lol
