I am in NY and statue of limitations is 6 years, and re-aging a debt is illegal. Portfolio Recovery called me asking to pay off some debt that I was disputing and gave up, anyways this was more that 6 years ago. I told them that I am in NY, statue of limitations apply and it is illegal for them to harass me about this and to stop calling.I was polite and very firm, the person on the line got quiet and had nothing to say. Have not heard from them in a long time now, and I hope that will never call again.

And by "contact", doesn't that mean that you have to answer or speak with someone to verify that you are who you think they are?

I have the app called Mr Number. It tells me who owns this number. Thomas Strachan supposedly. Never leave a message and if you answer they say you are going to jail. They are fling court papers and papers will be served unless the debt is paid. First its from a way old debt past statute of limitations and second I don't owe you anything at all just because you bought a debt that's 10 years old doesn't mean you are getting a dime from me. I know my rights. Get a real job and stop harrassing people.
