I've filled up reject list twice in the last year and a half from calls like these. No message is ever left.
Just got a call and since I didn't know the number I didn't answer....they didn't leave a message. I googled the number and found this site. I actually save these numbers and since someone above said they are Portfolio Recovery I have a contact by that name and a "special" ringtone assigned to them so as soon as it rings I can reject the call. I have a contact called telemarketers as well and they have the same ringtone. :-)
Got a call from this # like everyone else & no message! Love to get ahold of these people making these Calles!
I receive many calls from different numbers linked to portfolio recovery. My debts are over 8 years old. I am out of work and receiving disability. My debts were mutually incurred when husband was alive. He passed in 2008. Leave me alone already.
First of all it's Statute not Statue of Limitations and secondly and most importantly the limitations vary from state to state. You should really do your research if you are in debt. If you "admit" to the debt the time frame will start over, not from the last time you paid or the time the debt was sold off to a creditor. Statute of Limitations is the amount of time in which you can be sued for either the credit (that has a law department) or a lawyer/debt collector that they sold the debt to to collect the money you owe. A debt collector alone canNOT sue you for what is owed. If they threaten you it is BS, it has to be through a lawyer. if you have a debt that is over the amount of time allowed in the Statue for your state then the only thing a debt collector can do is continue to harrass you. They have no grounds for obtaining any funds from you. If you never plan to pay back the amount owed then my suggestion would be to never answer these phone calls as doing so may reinstate the time of the debt and start your Statute of Limitations over again. It typically takes seven years for a debt to be removed from your credit and that seven years would start from either the date of your last payment, the time it was sold off to a debt collector or the last time you admitted to the debt. I suggest taking the opportunity to check your credit report once a year (which is free) and obtaining all of the dates your debts were last "active". Looking at the report will also give you an idea of when the debts would be removed from your report. I have gone through this and know first hand how this works. And best opinion I can offer would be that if you DO have a debt that ends up in the hands of a lawyer, take care of it outside of court. They are more forgiving as far as payment plans go when it is settled outside of court. if you allow the courts to handle your case your wages will be garnished and they can take as match as 25% of your GROSS income. Educated yourself about your debt.
For a great site go to creditboards.com. This will answer any and all questions on how to deal with pondscum jdbs! In texas the sol does not reset unless the account is made current by pmt.
the clock only resets if you "admit" to owing the debt. it states if you do make contact do not acknowledge any debt. Each state has it own limitation and you can google it to find out what your state falls under.
I love it when collectors call collectors... Ive been doing B2B finance for 15 years and trust me, this company is immoral and in many states acting against the applicable Fair Debt Collection Practices Acts. If you have debt you can settle, talk to the original creditor. Do not talk to or otherwise engage with the 3rd party companies. Most of them are shady at the least. BTW- my debts were settled years ago, so it looks like Karma bit these guys. Little and tgey bought satisfied debts which were incurred 13 years ago LOL - Have fun writing that one off!! :)
