I just received a call from a party from "Briova Speciality Pharmacy", I confirmed they process specialty meds for Optum Rx (UHC). She knew my name, but immediately asked me for my date of birth and address to confirm an "Rx order", I do subscribe to UHC and do have mail orders filled thru Optum Rx.While the whole call seemed suspicious, it was legitimate, though lacking in security on their end; she would not tell me my referring physician's name or office, citing HIPAA. I called the number back, it dropped.I then received a call from my Dr office and they said they had just been contacted by Briova saying my specialized medication was not being processed until I confirmed its need with Briova.Long story short, I called Briova back thru my Dr's office and got the process authorized. What a struggle. I asked Briova to make their calls more clear. HIPAA does not disallow them from validating certain information, but to cold call a patient/me and just ask personal information is a sloppy way at best to conduct business. Call type was classified as an event reminder, though that's not really accurate. I was a legitimate Rx authorization from a subsidiary pharmacy who was unknown though legit to me...
We called UHC and they are doing an investigation about this Phishing SCAM and said it is not them. Do not give out private information.
This number left a message saying it was uhc and to call back 866-793-9371 ext 66367. I looked up both numbers and neither are directly associated with United health care insurance. I called the number on the back of my insurance card and they said these numbers are not associated with them. It must be a scam
I can answer this for you. This number that calls is from an automated system so depending on the time it takes for your voice mail to kick in the system thinks no one is there and hangs up. The number that calls is not the number where they would instruct you to return the call. The number on the back of the card is the number that is left. Also when you call in there will not be anything noted that a call was made because it came from the automated system and not a live person. I do promise you that this is not a scam and the reason they ask you to verify your birthday and address is just to make sure we are talking to you and not giving out your personal information to anyone but yourself.
This happens quite often. We receive information from the state and the members and sometimes the phone numbers and addresses are incorrect. I give credit to the nurse for following hippa guidelines and not discussing information with anyone other than the member. She did the right thing.
Valid call from BriovaRx/United Healthcare. I missed the call and they left a message. I called the 800 number on the back of my card to confirm and they needed to verify my date of birth in order to have a prescription sent to my doctors office. If you're under a doctor's care, you may want to call them back or at least call your doctor.
I am sorry that you had to go through this. You have every right to know who is calling you and verify who they are before you share your information with them. I work for united health care and I have done this on many occasions when I have spoken to a member. Feel free to leave me a message here if you would like me to help you with this issue. I would be more than willing to help you out.
I just want to put ever ones minds at ease. I work for united health care in ohio. This number actually comes up when I call out to my members from my work phone. So I promise you this is a United HealthCare number. I also tell my members though that I gave no problems giving them my toll free number and extension and they can call me back. If you ever have any doubt if you are talking to someone at united you can try this. You will be routed through the main directory so you can be 100% sure you are talking to.
