If you do not believe that it is a real number, you can always call the phone # on the back of your credit card, speak with Customer Service. If you give them the credit card number that is being worked by the fraud department, they will directly transfer you there. THIS IS A VALID NUMBER FOR CAPITAL ONE'S FRAUD DEPARTMENT. IF YOU ARE CONCERNED THAT IT IS NOT, TAKE THE PRECAUTION TO CALL THE PHONE # THAT YOU KNOW IS VALID AND THEY WILL TRANSFER YOU. As a customer, I would assume if I contacted my credit card company about fraud and received a letter or voicemail from the fraud department, I would call them and if I didn't feel comfortable, I would find another way to get in touch with someone.

Yes it is Capital One fraud dept. I was a victim of identity theft which was enormously stressful and this was one of the departments I dealt with. But ALWAYS phone the number on the back of your card and ask to be transferred to the fraud dept. My advice is to never give anyone who phones your information- I don't care who they are.

Nope, just talked to capital one... NOT a number from Capital One... even though my card was recently compromised. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO.

these numbers are a hoax.Fake, Fraud, total attempts to obtain your number to gain illegal use of it. Whatever they say or ask is all LIES. This act of theirs was confirmed simply by contacting the credit company using the telephone numbers found either on the statement or on the card itself. Any other numbers dialed to your home and re directed via toll free numbers are basically fraudulent. If you do talk to these morons, jerk them around for all they are worth. make them give you their names and phone numbers where they can be reached and get their addresses to get the FBI involved. Dont let up on them Turn it around and bring them to their knees.Keep them on the phone trace it to the location...

Regretably , you are incorrect in your assumption.The number you dialed is NOT and for the sake of those who might not understand plain english, THE NUMBER IS A FRAUD SITE!!! IT IS NOT CAPITOL ONE OR ANY AGENT OF CAPITOL ONE.

Voicemail claiming to be from Capital One Fraud department.Message said it was Tara from the Capital One Fraud department and to call them back at 1-800-215-1921 extension 4514868.I did not call them back. Instead, I called the number on the back of my card. They confirmed that this is NOT a Capital One number.The real Capital One Fraud department number is 1-800-427-9428. Don't trust me or any post on the net. Just call the numbe ron the back of your card not the number left in a voicemail.

I got a call from the same number, it's outsourced. It IS a Capital One related number. I called Capital One using the number on the back of my card, and read the number to them. They verified it is a legit Capital One number, the Fraud Dept.

This is the same number on the letter I received from the fraud department for a complaint I filed. If you are unsure. Call Capital One from the number on the back of your card and ask for the fraud department. This is what I did to make sure it was them and not the people who stole my credit card number in the first place.

I just called Capital One, at 800-955-7070 which is on my card, & asked them what their fraud dept phone # was & it is 800-215-1921.
