UNITED MEALIEAGE PLUS CREDIT CARD IS WHAT IT IS.
Received a call from this number after I had applied for a Chase credit card. Since I have a fraud alert on my credit bureau account they were calling to verify that it was legitimate. This is NOT a scam. They asked for some additional info but did not request my SS # (which I would not have given).
I got a telephone message from them today on my telephone answering machine. They said they were Office Depo. and told me to call them back at 1(800)278-8830. "Liz from the Fraud department at Office Depo." Spanish accent. Ironically, I was in Office Depo just yesterday and applied for their Chase MasterCard. Seems some message here say it's a scam, other say not. Can anybody be sure? I did not call them back. It sounds fishy to me. -Don-
I got a similar call, from the Chase fraud department.I emailed Chase's fraud department directly through their website and received a response from them that the message WAS from Chase.I called the line back, and it was because a credit card application had been opened in my name, and they wanted to verify that I had put the application in.Two things: 1. I had placed a fraud alert with the credit bureaus a little while ago (this is the same thing that happens if you use LifeLock, or another identity protection service; you can do the same thing for free yourself)2. I had recently applied for a mortgage, and upon approval we automatically qualified for a chase credit card. That was what the application was for. They asked me for the following information:1. did I request the credit card (I said no)2. I had to verify my name3. I had to verify a previous (not current) address that would show up in my credit history4. I had to verify an employer that would show up in my credit historyand that was it. No mention of social security number, birthdate, or other personal information that's not already available to everybody for free.

I didn't recognize the number so I obviously was checking to see who it was
The person called to verify employment of someone, but I didn't recognize the person's name. The caller had an accent, and I couldn't understand them. I didn't call back to let them know they had reached a wrong number.
Quit smoking quit line. Not spam. I used the Quit line to quit smoking. This is a follow up call.
